About me

My name is Lit and I am a Clinical Psychologist providing therapy for adults, adolescents and children. I believe that we all have the ability to manifest our full potential and to experience fulfilment and happiness in life. I specialise in both general and neurological psychology and I have introduced movement and music as part of my group therapy. I have over 10 years experience of providing individual, couple and group therapy and have worked in the NHS, Private Hospitals and in my own Private Practice. I also deliver training on neurological and general psychological wellbeing. I am HCPC and British Psychological Society accredited which means that I regularly top up my knowledge of psychological theory and practice by attending training programmes to keep me up to date with evidence based research.

What is Clinical Psychology?Consulting%20Rooms%20007.jpg
As a Clinical Psychologist I provide a range of different types of therapy to help my clients to understand their difficulties and make changes to overcome them. This means that I am able to tailor therapy to suit you and the themes you are exploring. I am trained and practiced in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Mindfulness and Emotional Release and Expression Techniques.

How can Psychological Therapy Help?
Psychological Therapy broadly aims to help you to increase your understanding of yourself and to enable you to adopt new strategies and ways of relating to other people to enable you to make positive changes in your life.

It is perfectly fine to come to therapy without a clearly defined problem, but feeling stuck, confused, frustrated, frightened, hopeless, angry, fed up, tired, lonely or lost. I will support you to uncover the root of the problem and find positive ways to alleviate the difficulty.

My Specialism
My approach involves connecting with my clients as who they are and supporting them to express themselves so that they can live a full and authentic life.

I have a specialism in working with adults who are living with neurological health challenges such as brain injury or long term neurological health conditions. I am experienced in working with fatigue and pain and I support people to cope with change and adjustment, relationship difficulties, work related problems and fear of illness. In this arena I also take good time to work with relatives as I believe that neurological problems can have an impact on the whole family.

My Values
I am committed to providing a platform for my clients to increase their enjoyment of life. I work by supporting you to strengthen your ability to cope with challenging issues, to develop a strong sense of self-worth and to foster and nurture healthy relationships.

My Clinic
My clinic is at The Brighton Consulting Rooms, less than a minute walk from
Preston Park train station. There is on-street parking and disabled access.

I offer individual therapy, couples therapy and family therapy.

Treatment Plans
Therapy begins with an Assessment Appointment. This is an important session in which I learn about what has brought you to therapy and you get a feel for working with me. At the end of the assessment I indicate what sort of treatment plan I feel is appropriate and I give you the chance to think about whether you would like to proceed. The therapeutic relationship is important and I like my clients to feel empowered in their choice to work with me.

The length of treatment can vary, usually starting from as few as 2 sessions up to several months. The regularity of sessions will also vary depending on your availability and the nature of the issues you are facing. Mostly, I recommend weekly therapy as this provides a focussed programme. However, there are times where bi-monthly or fewer sessions are more appropriate. This is discussed and arranged in advance and in accordance with you.

Appointments
Appointments are available day time on Mondays to Fridays. To enquire you can email me through the Counselling Directory website or you can call me directly on 07956 196 264.

Skype & Telephone Appointments
I offer Videoconference. I strongly recommend that you ensure that you can Videoconference from a private room, where you feel that confidentiality can be maintained.
