About me

Hello, my name is Trevor, I am a counsellor based in Harrogate. Sometimes, we get to places in our lives that are hard and, understandably, we feel what some call being ‘out of sorts’ or maybe ‘not myself’.  Maybe it is something like feeling sad. It can be hard to know why we feel that way, yet, our experience can leave us feeling isolated. At times, it is hard to talk about things that feel overwhelming, or like they don’t make sense. Perhaps you feel you would like this to change, but you are not sure who to turn to? Maybe you would feel like a burden to your loved ones, or as if they would not understand? I hope I can help be alongside and support you in those moments. Through collaboration and exploring meaning, I hope we can make changes that work, and last, for you.

It can be hard to find the right words to describe how we feel. I have experience in a variety of settings, including the NHS and Furth Education colleges with a range of clients who experience: anxiety; be that Generalised Anxiety Disorder, social anxiety, depression, stress, panic attacks, family issues or issues around self esteem to name but a few. What you feel matters and, together, I hope we are able to  explore what that means for you, even if we don't have the right words for it yet. All genders are welcome in our therapy space.

I see people on a weekly basis and through listening and exploring, I get to know what it is like in your world. We can explore and make sense of what is going on for you, without judgement, and, together, find the right direction for you to get the most out of our time. I offer short term (6-20 sessions) and open-ended therapy, depending on the best fit for you. We can work together to decide this as we progress on our journey too.

What you need matters. Our sessions will be paced in a way you feel comfortable and not exposed or overwhelmed. Sometimes, talking is helpful. Other times, it may be that you would like to engage in goal orientated tasks, mindfulness or creative activities. It is important to me that I help facilitate our time together in a way most useful to you. What you take from therapy after each session matters. By working together, I hope for your outcomes to be sustainable and empowering.

My approach places my appreciation of your individuality at the centre of our work. I believe in and deliver therapy that stems from both evidence-based practice and practice-based evidence. We will tailor your therapy to you and your individual needs. I am committed to equality and diversity- everything that makes you, you, are key ingredients to our therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
