Training, qualifications & experience

My own experience of Counselling many years ago, that was scary - dreaded that stranger staring at me, but the tone soft and compassion warming -  that  non judgemental demeanour I received, helped me open up and had to prized open, and that was difficult - I did not know what this entailed, thrown in the deep end, when encouraged to talk!!..

It gets easier, issues/stresses can be buried and when they come up, although very painful, that pain and discussing it, may feel like a weakness,  because of being told, it will hurt you more if you discuss it, keep the lid on it... OR we as a family do not talk about feelings.

- we are emotional beings.. you may have locked away those thoughts - triggers push the lid of it,   you may have kept it hidden away for a long time and dealt with it how you felt was right for you or how others have instilled that in you.

Feels like your on the same cycle ride - brakes do work, and you can get off...

ABOUT ME!!

I have worked in the Care industry for many years, and with those struggling with substance  misuse challenges.  Bereavement/Loss.  Young people with challenging behaviours and practical issues. Work Related Stress, Motivational Interviewing, Communication/Conflict  and more.

When sharing we can communicate in different ways, those whom talk but those whom fear sharing vocally -

Hence the choice of Email or Instagram

Fearing facing people - but being vocal works best for you

Those whom may find commute difficult - or time limited - but want that f2f interaction.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

My way of working - I look at the whole of you, not the problem, how you tick, who you are, who you want to be - you are the expert of you, I will try to walk beside you or a step behind you, knowing someone is there, can help your experience.

Imagine me a passenger in your car - on that bumpy journey, to start with.

You may have been holding onto emotions for so long, but the affects and strain  of this, has changed thoughts, feelings, actions/behaviour  - it's not you,  BUT for so long now it now feels uncomfortably comfortable.

I have had ladies and gents say "OMG did not believe this would help, everything has changed, oh wow!"   One session or a few  can do wonders if you want to subtly offer that small step in another direction for you.

What version of you do you want to be..."I want the old me back" - I have had ladies and gents tell me this, but afraid to step out of the stress fog.. or the same familiar.

but this version of you right now and how you are feeling now, has changed you,   the hope you will deal with issues / challenges, differently and with that resetting old ways...

.... Are you fearing  change...? we change every second of the day..

You may ask, "" who is the best Counsellor for me"...   the one you get along well with!
