About me

I am an Integrative Counsellor and EMDR practitioner- with over ten years experience. I am accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) & the BACP register of Counsellors and Psychotherapist, adhering to their ethical framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy.

I have worked within NHS IAPT services (increased access to psychological therapies)- for the last eight years. Here short term counselling is offered and we work with a range of issues and symptoms:  stress, anxiety, generalised anxiety, depression, addictions, low self-esteem and a lack of confidence, OCD etc.

As an Integrative counsellor I blend together different therapeutic models/theories depending on the individual's- or couple's- needs, issues or where they are in their therapy journey. My aim is to support individuals to understand where their difficulties have come from and how to change their beliefs about themselves and therefore look towards a more positive future.

This is achieved through a non-judgmental, empathic, good therapeutic relationship, which appreciates and completely respects the individual's right to confidentiality.

I have worked extensively with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse and with individuals who have experienced historical rape, sexual assault and/or sexual harassment. This includes looking at how Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, possibly caused by the above, have influenced or interrupted individual's lives in a negative and/or self-defeating way.

I have a special interest in working with individuals who are experiencing difficulties with their relationship with food, presenting with Eating Disorders/Disordered Eating. Plus Self-Harming behaviours.

I work with LGBT individuals- helping people look at their feelings concerning their sexuality and sexual identity.

I have also worked with young people of primary school age and teenagers.
