About me

I am an experienced counsellor and an accredited member of The National Counselling Society. I am also a registrant on the BACP Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapist and adhere to their ethical framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy.

I use different therapeutic models depending on the individual's needs, issues or where they are in their therapy journey. My aim is to support individuals to understand where their difficulties have come from and how to change their beliefs about themselves and therefore look towards a more positive future. This is achieved through a non-judgmental, empathic, good therapeutic relationship, which appreciates and completely respects the individual's right to confidentiality.

I have experience of working with individuals who present with a number of issues, such as stress, anxiety, depression, addictions, low self-esteem and a lack of confidence. I have also worked with young people of primary school age and teenagers, using Play Therapy.

My main area of work has been with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse and with individuals who have experienced historical rape, sexual assault and/or sexual harassment. This includes looking at how Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, possibly caused by the above, have influenced or interrupted individual's lives in a negative and/or self-defeating way.

I work for Dover Counselling who offer the NHS IAPT (increased access to psychological therapies) services.

I have a special interest in working with individuals who are experiencing difficulties with their relationship with food, presenting with Eating Disorders/Disordered Eating. Plus Self-Harm. I also help individuals look at their feelings concerning their sexuality and sexual identity.
