Tony Ian White
I specialise in treating stress, anxiety and depression, including trauma, grief, bereavement and loss, providing individually tailored therapy for help and support with a wide range of personal issues.
People consider me compassionate, and sensitive to the needs of others, with a highly developed intuitive sense, and accompanying insight into presenting problems. I work patiently from your perspective, respect your confidentiality, and your right to be self governing, working collaboratively with you to achieve your desired goals.
How do I work?
As an MBACP registered Integrative Counsellor, Anxiety UK Approved Therapist, and GHSC accredited Clinical Hypnotherapist, I work utilising highly effective, brief strategic, evidence-based, and solution orientated interventions, that help with a broad spectrum of problems.
Moreover, the main idea behind integrative counselling is that you are unique, and what would work perfectly for you is not necessarily what would work for another person. As an integrative counsellor, I therefore work to make a program of therapy that suits your specific individual needs.
What is Integrative Counselling?
Integrative counselling looks at the whole person, taking into account your mental, physical and emotional needs. Your therapist will use techniques and tools from different modalities to tailor an individual approach for you.
An integrative counsellor aims to build a trusting and non-judgmental relationship that helps you develop self-awareness. When you understand the causes of your concerns or triggers for your behaviour, you can confidently set goals and develop new behaviours to improve your satisfaction with life (BACP, 2021).
What are the benefits?
Counselling can help you move forward in your life, by providing the time and a confidential space to work through any problems. It also helps you gain a different perspective on problems and issues by providing a safe, non-judgemental and respectful environment to talk openly in private. It can help you to regain your well-being and a stronger sense of balance in your life. Counselling frequently helps people to think more clearly and make better decisions for themselves. Through counselling, people report feeling more motivated, confident and assertive, with improvements in their personal and professional relationships. Counselling can also help you realise your true potential, help you identify ambitions and goals, in a way that’s right for you.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

I’ve had the good fortune of knowing Tony through my Yoga sessions. He is really passionate about assisting people to find their own solutions and empowers them. I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking healing for past experiences, or freeing themselves from fears, and building courage to live life fully. Whatever your reasons, you will have an experience of total serenity during each one of Tony’s sessions.
- Ramila Patel, Advanced Yoga Teacher and Well-being Mentor
Tony has been instrumental in helping me overcome procrastination with essay submissions. Without his support, I would have been unable to continue my University studies. Having lived the experience of learning disabilities which has inhibited progress in all aspects of my life, I now have a sense of renewed vigour and gratitude for life and learning.
- University Student, East London
I've found Tony to be compassionate with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. He is empathic, diligent and sensitive to individual need. I also found him conscientious, truthful and highly principled. He demonstrates integrity, and is committed to alleviating suffering, empowers people, promotes personal growth, self-awareness, and independence. He has been instrumental in turning my life around, particularly in dealing with long standing issues around Generalised Anxiety, Social Anxiety and Panic Attacks.
