Tony Attard specialising in CBT, working with adults, teens and children.
I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, registered and accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). I am able to work with a wide range of client groups including adults, teens, children and families and for more than 10 years, I have experience consulting in schools and supporting families in the UK and abroad. I have an in-depth understanding of mental health issues and have worked with numerous individuals with various presenting problems.
I specialise in the field of CBT in particular for people who suffer from anxiety, low mood and loneliness. I have helped adults, teens and children alike to deal with issues such as low-self esteem, perfectionism and generalised anxiety disorder, providing both short-term and long-term therapy.
With many years of experience working therapeutically with young people and their families, I also provide training to teachers, social workers, foster carers, police officers and youth offending teams. My work within the field of childhood sexual behaviour also involved working closely with families, parents and schools as well as providing consultations to parents to help them gain a better understanding as to why their child may behave in the way that he or she does and how to further improve communication within the family. As a result my philosophy when working with children and teens, is to also work alongside parents and other professionals.
For over 20 years I have worked with people who have experienced long-term trauma, abuse and neglect. My style of working very much focuses on the client's needs; working together with the client to help people feel better about themselves and feel more able to cope with the situation they find themselves in.
I am an accredited practitioner with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and National Organisation for Treatment of Sexual Abusers (NOTA).

I also provide treatment for psychological difficulties for children displaying harmful sexualised behaviours or other childhood anxiety related behaviours. If you feel that your particular difficulties do not appear on this list or are slightly different, please get in touch, I can discuss this and if necessary I can direct you to another professional that works in the field.
I would also be able to work with families whose children may be presenting with difficult behaviours. I offer consultations and training to schools and parents around childhood anxiety disorders and childhood sexual abuse.
If you decide that you would like to contact me an initial enquiry will be made over the telephone or email where we would briefly discuss any questions you have and availabilities. There will be no charge for this enquiry. Should you choose to proceed, we would then arrange a date, discuss fees and schedule an assessment session. Assessment sessions are generally longer. The assessment sessions are designed to discuss your difficulties, goals for treatment, treatment plan as well as provide you with an opportunity to ask further questions about therapy.
Following the assessment stage you are under no obligation to continue treatment with me and should you wish, I can also recommend other therapists or services for you to access. Should you choose to continue your treatment I would then schedule in further appointments. These appointments will last approximately 50-60 mins. Payments can be made by either cash, cheque or bank transfer.
Fees for sessions are negotiable which is intended to take into account individual circumstances including income and affordability. Reduced rates are also available.
If you would like to learn more about me and my therapeutic approach, please feel free to contact me. I can explain the therapy process in further detail and highlight what you can expect in therapy. I offer a complimentary 15 minute phone call to prospective clients.
