I understand how difficult it can be to make contact with someone you don't know, especially if you are feeling anxious and depressed. Or feel lost about where you life is going, unsure about what you are going to do, or how you will cope.
What to expect
I will offer you the time and space work through any issues in a safe, non judgemental and confidential way. Each session is 50 minutes long, I have a office in Whitchurch but will also visit you at home if you have any difficulties travelling to my office. My working hours are Monday to Wednesday 17:00 til 20:00,Thursday and Friday 09:00 till 19:30 and Saturday mornings 09:00 to 13:00.
To get the most from your counselling sessions it's important to feel comfortable and relaxed so we can build a relationship of trust. With this being in mind I offer an initial 25 minute free session so we can discuss any apprehensions you may have.
I became a counsellor after suffering from anxiety & depression about 15 years ago. My doctor suggested counselling, so I went a long to give it a try, it wasn’t easy, but eventually I turned a corner and I’ve never looked back. After this, I decided I would like to train to become a counsellor myself and this is how I started my career. Counselling is something that I am passionate about, supporting others, seeing people coming to terms with the problems they are facing and helping them find ways of coping.
I am a qualified counsellor with 9 years experience in Fertility, Bereavement, Alcohol & Substance Misuse, Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Panic attacks and Relationship issues.
A registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and National Fertility Society (NFS), I offer a person-centred approach within my practice helping clients work through their issues.
My office is in Whitchurch Shropshire.
How can Counselling help?
Counselling can help you become more self aware, enabling you to look down on your world and become an observer. You begin to make sense of feelings and emotions, which helps bring clarity and understanding.
Counselling can help you manage your thoughts, your mind has something like 60,000 a day, and you can recognise how your thoughts have the potential to shape your mood and life.
Perhaps you have become adept at pleasing others, counselling can help you recognise the value showing your true self consideration and empathy.
You can start to make sense of your past and understand how it influences your decisions in the here and now. Previous painful experiences can be worked through so they don't impact you today.
If you spend time worrying about what happened in your past or what may happen in the future, counselling can help you live more mindfully in the present which helps you feel calmer.
Counselling can help you come to terms with the problems you are facing and find ways of coping.
One of the biggest benefits of counselling is that it offers an open space with an impartial person to talk about what's going on in your life, without being judged. Just the knowledge you have a place to go, can be enough to release the stress of holding so many emotions.

Grief although normal can manifest itself in a huge range of unexpected ways, sorrow, guilt, anger, numbness, hopelessness, loneliness and despair.
Talking about the loss of a loved one allows people to adjust to their new life both good and bad. Bereavement Counselling aims to help clients find a place for their loss so they can carry on with life and eventually find acceptance.
I am able to support you to talk through the problems you are facing and help you identify thoughts and emotions you may have been blocking. You may be worried, depressed, confused or want to make changes to your life, together we can explore your problems in order to gain a greater understanding of them and yourself. You can then look at what you want to change and what you need to do to make it happened
Going through fertility treatment is a significant emotional and stressful journey. People often experience feelings of sadness, pain, guilt, anger and grief.
I offer clients a safe and confidential place to explore their feelings and thoughts and to discuss ways of coping. Counselling gives you the opportunity to talk over emotional difficulties, fears, anxiety or distress that you might experience during your treatment.
The HFEA (Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority ) considers counselling to be a key element in the provision of fertility services for all patients. Recognising the complex psychological and social issues that can arise from infertility and licensed treatment, the HFEA Act (1990) requires counselling to be offered to both partners before treatment starts.
