About me

Are you struggling at present?

At times we can all experience anxiety, stress, depression, low self esteem, angry or  have family or relationship issues which make us feel alone and scared. Perhaps you question if you have ADHD  Sometimes we can become trapped by this and feel unable to move forward, whatever age we are! If this is you, you are not alone. The most up to date statistics tell us that 35% of us will experience anxiety or depression at some point in their lives, especially in wintertime.  This can often lead to problems with anger or unhealthy dependency or addiction.

  • I can offer you a safe, calm environment for one to one counselling for yourself or your child. A friendly place where we can talk and get to know each other. We will seek to understand the problem you are facing whether this is caused by current issues or events from your past and make a clear plan of how we can work together. We will find new ways and skills to deal with your feelings for example breathing exercises and relaxation technique can be really effective in managing anxiety. We will identify your strengths and empower you to move forward and alleviate any distress.
  • For some people this can take a few sessions, for others it takes longer. I can accommodate whatever you need.
  • I am a fully qualified counsellor, I adhere to the BACP code of ethics. My approach as a therapist is flexible depending on what you would like from therapy. I normally work in an integrative way which means that I incorporate different models of therapy, depending on who I am working with and what they are looking for. I am experienced in Solution focused therapy, Person Centred therapy and Cognitive Behaviour therapy.
  • I am experienced at working with both adults and children.I have specialist experience in working with young people. I have worked as a School Counsellor  and I have previously worked for PCAMHS (Primary Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service)
  • I have successfully supported people with low self esteem or low self confidence, eating disorders, self harm, panic disorders and body dysmorphia
  • I have experience of working with clients with addiction and substance abuse
  •  I welcome enquires from trainee counsellors and offer a discounted rate for sessions
  • I try to offer a flexible approach to suit your lifestyle, evening and weekend appointments are available.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
