Tina Allonby PGDip Art Therapy
I am a HCPC Registered Art Therapist with around 20 years experience working with children and adults in art therapy, arts in health and art teaching.
Art Therapy is not dependent on spoken language and so it can be helpful for anyone who may find it difficult to express thoughts and feelings verbally. As an Art Therapist my goal is to help facilitate communication and expression of thoughts and feelings through art-making, play and talking.
My work is person-centred and non directive, providing a safe, supportive, confidential space with a good variety of 2D and 3D art materials for you to explore your concerns creatively. You don't have to be an artist or good at art! Your art-making can be a useful way of connecting with your experience and feelings on a different level to thinking and talking.
During the session you choose the art materials you prefer and how you want to work with them. I will support your choice, process and way of working, we can then explore your artwork and process together.
Over the years I've worked with a range of needs and issues including anxiety and depression, children with emotional & behavioural difficulties, ADHD, autism, complex family issues, adults with diagnosed borderline personality disorder, self harm, adults with learning disability, physical disability, mental health concerns and older adults with dementia.
