Thank you for viewing my profile. Life can be difficult for any number of reasons and it’s my job to help you untangle and come to terms with it. I will attempt to stand beside you and walk with you through it. I will offer you a safe, calm and accepting space in which I will listen. I welcome everyone and anyone to my consulting room. I offer individual counselling within a non-judgmental and genuine professional relationship, and I strive to understand your world with warmth, patience and compassion. Therapeutic Presence is the bedrock of my skillset this is where authentic listening arises from. It sounds very simple and I suppose it is but I believe it can be a very powerful and transforming energy.
If you feel that we could work together we would have a 1 hour initial session to discuss a few things and see if you feel I am the right fit for you, this session will be free. I offer open ended counselling which means we could work together for a few sessions or ongoing for a number of years. We would work at you’re pace and as I’m a predominantly a Person Centred counsellor, I will be non-directive which means I do not give advice and look for answers for you and also I will be non-judgmental.
Training, qualifications & experience
Certificate of Higher Education in Humanistic Counselling
Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (QCF), Wiltshire College.
Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Studies, Wiltshire College.
Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies, Wiltshire College.
I trained with Wiltshire College, my diploma was affiliated to Bath Spa University and the CPCAB (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body) This is a Higher Education Diploma. The training was extremely rigorous and I very much enjoyed the journey.
I practice an integrated Humanistic approach to counselling. This means I work in mainly a Person Centred way but also using other techniques from approaches such as: Transpersonal Counselling, Gestalt and Existential. I use Mindfulness in my everyday life so I will inevitably bring that into my practice as I build a relationship based on trust with you. With my own personal journey through addictions I can offer a unique perspective with that particular area of life.
I have worked in the addictions field for the last 9 years. I volunteered as a counsellor at Turning Point Trowbridge for approx. 1 year. I also volunteered as a counsellor at Revival helping survivors of rape and sexual abuse.
I have worked with adults with severe and complex Mental Health. I'm currently working with children and young people with profound and multiple complex learning difficulties, which I'm thoroughly enjoying.
Areas of counselling I deal with
- Affairs and betrayals
- Anger management
- Behaviour problems
- Domestic violence
- Drug abuse
- Emotional abuse
- Feeling sad
- Internet addiction
- Low self-confidence
- Low self-esteem
- Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
I charge £35 for a 1 hour session.
I offer concessions to students/low waged.
What to expect in your First Initial session:
Please contact me to book an initial I hour session which is free. During which we can discuss any concerns you may have and I can explain what I offer face to face and you will hopefully get a clearer picture of it all, we can then both decide together if we want to begin the counselling journey.
If we both choose to go ahead, we will set a day in the week which is convenient for us both. The pattern of attendance can vary dependent on particular needs. This will be part of an agreed contract that I will discuss with you at our first initial appointment.
