About me

Are you experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, relationship problems, depression or feeling sad?

Hello, my name is Tim McLoughlin and I am an experienced and fully trained counsellor, offering you a safe place for you to explore and understand your emotions.

How am I able to help you?

Having the time and space with a non-judgmental, professional and supportive counsellor will enable you to examine, identify and make sense of your life circumstances more effectively. Life will become clearer and help you gain more understanding of yourself.

Counselling with me will help you to improve the situation and cope better. I will not advise or judge you. Together, we will explore your difficulties, thoughts and feelings in a safe, natural environment in order for you to unlock your potential. We will find solutions and make informed choices which are unique for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling from The Metanoia Institute (University of Middlesex) where I also studied for four years on the post-graduate Counselling Psychology Doctoral programme.   The Metanoia Institute is widely recognised as being one of the most rigorous training routes in the UK. Since qualifying I have undertaken further training in the fields of mindfulness, CBT, nature-based therapy and addiction counselling.

I am registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I have worked as a counsellor in an NHS hospital ward for mentally ill patients, a local government counselling charity and a university counselling service.

In addition to my counselling practice, I work within the public sector supporting the work of schools and teachers drawing upon my former career as a primary school teacher. At the moment within my private practice I am able to offer sessions in a picturesque and quite location in Norfolk as well as meeting clients over the internet using a secure platform.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
