BACP Accredited Counsellor ONLINE

About me

Hello, I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to talk about your issues. I am a fully qualified, experienced counsellor and my aim is help you unlock the answers that are already inside but might be hidden or trapped by unhelpful thought patterns. Changing these thought patterns can be the key to better mental health. The first thing I also tell all my clients to be kinder to themselves mentally. We all seem to be our own cruelest critics and often our troubles start there.

Our relationship is a key element to your therapeutic development and that is why the first session will be used to make sure that we can work together.

After you have arrived, I will invite you in and once we are both comfortable the session can begin. If you would rather not talk about the specific problem that brought you here straight away that is absolutely fine. There is no rush. Take your time. Get as relaxed as you can be and talk about whatever you want. The time is yours and there is no pressure or expectation. There is no wrong.

I believe that the best person to help you is you, as nobody knows your mind as well as you do. By aiding you in finding these answers means they are more likely to be right for you. One size does not fit all. I work one-on-one with clients meaning you are the sole focus.

I also offer the Rewind Technique to help with Traumatic Memories. It offers a way of permanently stopping the involuntary recall of these memories.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an integrative counsellor that is led by you the client. Integrative therapy is a combined approach to counselling that brings together different therapy styles and takes the view that there is no single approach that can treat each client in all situations. Therefore, a common type of integration is where the therapist has a solid base in one theoretical approach that is accompanied by a willingness to carefully incorporate techniques from other therapeutic approaches. My base is as a Person-Centred therapist which means that I aim first and foremost to offer you the support and encouragement you need.

I am a registered member of the BACP and follow their code of ethics.

I currently work with university students mainly at the University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University and the University of Derby. I have a private practice in Nottingham NG5 Pelham Road. It has free on street parking right outside the building and there is bus stop just at the end of the road. The building is a newly renovated space which offers comfortable rooms with plenty of privacy.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
