About me

Hi, I'm Thomas, I have been working as a counsellor and psychotherapist since 2009, in private practice as well as in public and private institutional settings.

I work with people who are in need of support, whether that be with improving their relationships, overcoming addictive behaviors, working through the effects of trauma or adverse childhood experiences, grieving the loss of a relationship or the death of a loved one, finding meaning and purpose in life or dealing with anxiety, depression and stress.

Are you struggling right now and in need of support?

Perhaps you are caught in a pattern of unhelpful behavior, feel lost and confused or are looking to make a changes in your life but are unsure of what steps to take next. If this is the case I can help.

I understand what it is like to feel overwhelmed and frustrated by life’s challenges, and sometimes we all need a confidential space where we can share and explore whatever is causing us difficulty, gain insight into our behavior and feelings get the support we need to create change in our lives.

I draw on include Psychosynthesis psychotherapy techniques (e.g. guided imagery, voice dialogue, chair-work, meditation, disidentification, subpersonality work, dream interpretation and drawing/creative expression) as well as EFT, one of the better known modalities in the field of emerging Energy Psychology.

First steps

If this is your first experience of therapy you may be anxious at the prospect of talking about your difficulties or starting therapy.  If this is the case I'd encourage you to contact me for an initial phone conversation (free of charge) so that we can discuss your needs and you can find out more about how I work.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have more than 10 years of post-qualification experience and have worked in private practice, public health services and inpatient and outpatient services.

In addition to my work as a psychotherapist, I have many years of experience working as a business coach in the field of social entrepreneurship in both the UK and South Africa.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

UKCP

UK Council for Psychotherapy

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
