About me
I know how difficult it can be to make a change and to start therapy. Some of us are not used to asking for help, perhaps we tell ourselves that we’re not worth anyone’s time. Or perhaps there is something that has been unspoken for a long time. If you are looking for your children, then it can be difficult to know who is best suited to help them through their issues. My job is to understand you as best as I can, what it’s like to walk in your shoes. And to help you to explore your thoughts and feelings by feeding my understanding back to you. This can help lead to new perspectives and a greater understanding of who you are.
My model for my work with you is the 'one plus model', or 'single session model'. This means I will offer you one session to work through your issue, with the intention for you to leave that session with the help you are looking for. Giving you the tools to make a meaningful change in your life outside of therapy. The model’s plus lets you know that more help is available to you. If you need it, you can come back.
I work by telephone or walk-and-talk in parks near Brislington and the River Avon.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have 7 years of experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist working in charities and in private practice, including:
- Experience working with adults experiencing a substance use issue alongside mental health issues.
- Experience working with adults experiencing trauma.
- Experience working with children and young people.
Prior to becoming a counsellor, I worked as a support worker, youth worker, playworker, in several social care providers from pre-school to end of life. These roles show up in my counselling practice in my understanding of the difficulties people face, my playful attitude to whatever happens in the counselling room, my understanding of risk taking, and my belief in a connected community as a great source of support for us.
I graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling in 2020.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
