About me
I specialise in relationship difficulties, creativity, sex & sexuality and spirituality. I work relationally, and believe that healing happens primarily through self-knowledge and awareness. We can increase this by building trust together, and by nurturing your self-acceptance by holding you continually with unconditional support and understanding.
Perhaps the key relationships in your life are not working as harmoniously as you would like them to. Maybe you notice yourself sabotaging your relationships or pushing people away from you, leaving you lonely and isolated. Perhaps you feel constantly rejected and unworthy of affection. Maybe you have good relationships but would like to know how to make them better. I can help you explore how your early relationships set the template for the way you relate to people as an adult, and we can look at ways you are acting that might be sabotaging your relationships. With increased awareness around your own patterns of behaviour, you will likely see that change starts to happen quite naturally. You will likely start to notice emotions and behaviours of yours before they start to spiral out of control and make a situation worse. I can also help you find out what you want and need from your relationships, so you can set boundaries with your partner. This will help you make sure that your needs are getting met, while also exploring how you are meeting your partner’s needs, which makes the relationship more sustainable in the long term.
As a professional musician, I understand what it means to struggle with my creative drive and work in a challenging industry. If this is something you are struggling with we can look at the barriers that hold you back from your full creative expression, and how to move into a creatively fulfilling lifestyle.
Sex & Sexuality remains taboo in many areas of our culture today. If something is holding you back in this area of your life, we can work back to where these problems began. By exploring these often sensitive areas, it can bring awareness and a deeper understanding which can help you to have a more fulfilling sex life.
Spirituality is something that has been a very important way in which I have found peace and understanding within my own life. If you are a victim of spiritual abuse, or would like to speak to someone about spiritual experiences you have had, you can trust that I have understanding enough to trust the truth of your experiences and help you digest this mysterious facet of the human condition.
Training, qualifications & experience
I studied a 3 year counselling course in Psychosynthesis Counselling at the Psychosynthesis Trust in London Bridge, and now run a private practice in Hastings.
Prior to my studies I had gained over 10 years experience working in the field of mental health.
Psychosynthesis is a transpersonal model of counselling. Transpersonal essentially means "beyond the individual", so it considers human life in terms of the wider systems, such as family and culture, and the spirit or soul. This means there is freedom to explore your life in the way you want to, whether or not are interested in spirituality.
Psychosynthesis builds on the Psychodynamic Freudian model by including creativity, joy, love and spirituality as essential aspects of human life.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
