About me
Hello there, firstly I would like to say to you, welcome and thank you for taking the time to read my profile.
I know it's not easy to pick a counsellor among the lists of qualified professionals, I know I found it difficult to choose the first time I came here. So if I could impart one nugget of advice to you while I have your attention - contact a few of us! Get a feel for what they (or I) have to offer and if you feel a match with them. Most counsellors will offer an introductory session of some kind so make use of it to make sure you find the right person for you!
I work in a Person Centred way, which means I put you and your experiences at the core of our work together.
I don't get to decide what you want to bring to your therapy, but I can promise you that we will go wherever it leads together.
I aim to offer a calm and accepting place for you to explore your life, come to terms with an issue, or confront something troubling you.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), bound by its Ethical Framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy.
I attend monthly clinical supervision with a Senior Qualified Supervisor in accordance with the guidelines and requirements of BACP to maintain therapeutic standards of practice.
I hold a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) disclosure certifying me
Self-improvement is very important to me so I maintain Continued Professional Development to update my skills, broadening my experience by keeping up to date with the latest research, attending courses and seminars.
Training, qualifications & experience
I began my training in 2016 with a level 2 Introduction to Counselling course having decided to become a counsellor the introduction course let me know I had made the right choice.
Since then I have completed a level 3 Certificate in Couselling skills, and recently a Degree in Person Centred Counselling.
During this time I completed my placement at The Colchester Insitute Counselling Service.
I have also undertaken various CPD courses in subjects like "Working online & via telephone", "Working with Suicide and self-harm" I continue to make expanding my knowledge a priority within my practice.
Alongside my work as a Counsellor I work in the charity sector focused around improving the lives of older members of the community.
Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
