About me

I am an experienced BACP Accredited Counsellor, dedicated to the ethical use of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

This can be offered as a short term or longer term intervention, for the benefit of adults and young people, on a individual or small group basis. For individuals whom seek to re-claim a focus and inspiration in life, seeking to find their own purpose and potential.

Castle Counselling offers experienced Counselling, Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy interventions in a manner that is personable, genuine, professional and confidential.

I have credible experience to bring to my chosen profession with over 35 years NHS experience working in Associated Healthcare Professions as a qualified General and Registered Mental Health nurse (RMN) within the NHS, private and voluntary sectors, practising at a senior level in the following areas: Medical /Mental Health Services, Hospice, GP's Practices and Community Mental Health Teams and Educational settings.

For many years I worked as a Senior Counsellor within a NHS Psychological Health Care Department and Staff Support Service. Addressing complex individual and organisational issues including: well-being issues related to anxiety, depression, trauma, relational issues, bullying & harassment, conflict, work life balance and  disciplinary issues.

As a progression my work extended to establishing Counselling and development services for young people within schools and colleges, using age appropriate interventions to support our young adults and children.

As a British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited Counsellor, my work involves working with individuals across a wide age spectrum with diverse needs.

I offer an initial assessment so as to understand your needs. Then incorporating the value of the therapeutic relationship, which means working together in a non judgemental way, to assist you in the exploration of life challenges and problem areas, these may be new, or may have been hidden for years. Together we will identify the impact of these challanges and difficulties upon your thoughts, feelings, actions, and behaviours. To do this I will use the following evidence based counselling approaches - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Solution Focussed Therapy,Mindfulness, Transactional Analysis. Hypnotherapy and NLP. All Based upon Humanistic/Psychodynamic and a Relational Model principals.

Castle Counselling offers a safe and confidential place to explore the difficulties that you may be experiencing. From this you will be enabled to feel less confused, and more able to make changes, make choices and decisions that influence your life.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
