About me

Hello my name is Theresa and I am an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor.

If you are at a point in your life where you just need someone to talk to, in a safe and confidential environment, then I can offer you that space where you are able to be free to be yourself. I work to your agenda, which means that our sessions will always be about you and what you want to talk about. My core modality is Person-Centred but through my training I can utilise other skills such as Psychodynamic and Existentialism.  I am a warm, caring and empathic listener who will treat you with respect and make no judgements about any concerns you may wish to discuss.

If you would like to get in touch with me then please do send me an email, or I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation, just so you can talk about what is on your mind and for me to tell you a bit about my approach to counselling. If you are happy to continue then we will set up a second session and then arrange to see you on a weekly basis.

Training, qualifications & experience

My principal areas of work are bereavement and sexual abuse, for both men and women, and I gained my experience by spending time working at Milton Keynes Bereavement Service and Northamptonshire Rape Crisis.

  • CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling - An Integrative approach
  • CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies
  • CPCAB Level 2 in Counselling Skills
  • LGSS Safeguarding Adults Training Course - Northamptonshire Rape Crisis
  • Awareness in Sexual Violence Training Course - Northamptonshire Rape Crisis
  • Introduction to Mindfulness - Workshop - Milton Keynes Bereavement Service
  • BLTS Initial Bereavement Training Course - Milton Keynes Bereavement Service
  • Trauma - Network Meeting

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
