About me

How can couples counselling help you?

When you feel as if you are constantly going through difficult times, perhaps you feel as if you have drifted apart and you feel sad and lonely in your relationship, couple counselling offers a safe haven for you to explore and share your frustrations and fears, needs and longings in a way that is truly and deeply felt. This draws your partner closer and so you are able to go right to the heart of issues.   Relationships thrive on both partners feeling emotionally safe and secure.

As an emotionally focused therapist specialising in couples counselling, I have the knowledge, skills and experience and am wholeheartedly committed to supporting you through this journey of discovering yourself, your partner and your relationship. I am dedicated to supporting all partnerships irrespective of gender, race and orientation. My goal is to heal and transform relationships by developing personal and emotional well-being as well as helping create emotional and physical closeness.

Our working relationship together is managed with warmth, respect and sensitivity and is strictly confidential.

A qualified Integrative Therapist and BACP registered counsellor; I have also been formally trained as a certified Emotionally Focused Couple Therapist (EFT – visit www.iceeft.com for more information). This thoroughly researched approach to therapy for couples focuses on creating and strengthening emotional bonds between partners by accessing emotions and mutually experiencing sincere, heartfelt conversations that transform adult loving relationships.

My therapeutic approach is derived from an integrative model, using elements of Person-centred and Psychodynamic, while specialising in Emotionally Focused Therapy. My objective is to provide a warm, non judgemental and collaborative partnership, offering a safe compassionate space to explore and share your thoughts and feelings so that you experience understanding of yourself and your partner, creating connection and strengthening your relationship.

I work with couples in private practice and for a national charitable organisation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
