About me

People seek counselling for many different reasons, we all have our own unique story and experiences which at times we can find difficult for vast and varying reasons. My way of working is to understand your own individual experiences, past and present within a non-judgemental space to be able to explore anything that you are finding difficult within a safe, ethical, confidential and supportive environment.

I can help you find ways to enable you to understand yourself, your situation and support you towards making positive changes and choices.

Through counselling and psychotherapy I can help you to:

  • improve your self-care and understanding
  • improve and help with relationships
  • improve unhelpful patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviours
  • learn more about your thoughts and feelings
  • improve your self-worth
  • help with anxiety and depression
  • help with addiction and the patterns of addiction
  • help and improve living with chronic pain, living with ill health
  • support and help carers, family of those living with chronic pain and ill health

I work to the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) code of ethics and standards and hold professional indemnity insurance.

I also have my certificate and training to offer telephone counselling to those who may find it difficult to attend face to face sessions.

I also run workshops for small groups for individuals to attend and for organisations

I also support a group of over 8,000 members, for 8 years now, for those living with chronic pain and long term ill health conditions. My passion is to support and empower those who live with chronic pain and various conditions that impact ever aspect of their lives, find ways to manage the bad days and live the good days.

Prior to counselling I worked in children and family services for 15 years, in various capacities supporting families and working with other agencies and charities within the community.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
