About me

Hello, my name is Tessa. If you’re reading this profile, can I begin by offering you either comfort, encouragement or both. You are not alone! We all experience challenges whether it’s our mental health, a life crisis or trauma. The only difference is the degree to which we suffer, and importantly, how we deal with it.

As a counsellor I can offer you professional help with whatever it is that has resulted in you getting to this point. My professional training, clinical experience and personal life experience has put me in a perfect place to help you with what, at the moment may be leaving you feeling helpless, hopeless or even desperate. Together we can empower you to skilfully address those issues that are currently diminishing or minimising your quality of life.

My approach as to how we can work together would be discussed at our first meeting, but prior to that I offer a free telephone consultation. During our initial sessions I will of course propose my recommendations and explain why I am recommending my suggestion, but it is together that we will establish what we agree will be the best approach for you.

For example, some clients prefer to simply talk and explore their thoughts and feelings with me, helping them clarify and crystallise their confusion and/or their moral/ethical dilemmas. Some prefer to work on their unhelpful thought processes and the consequent unhelpful feelings that follow. Some clients are interested in a mindfulness approach or a combined approach. All of this can be addressed at a pace that suits you.

If you feel ready to take the next step and would like me to help you achieve what I know you can, contact me to book your free introductory call.

Tessa

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
