About me

Taking the first step is often the hardest one.

Hi, you may be wondering how are you ever going to get started? So many to chose from. How do I pick one? I know how you feel. Even just reading through all these profiles can increase the anxiety you may be feeling. This can all become a bit overwhelming. And right now you may be thinking “I can’t do this, this is too much for me”. I totally understand. Taking the first step is often the hardest one. But you can do this.

Anxiety and stress can stop us from doing things, from living a fully functioning life. It can be so difficult just getting up in the morning. I have been there. The feeling of helplessness, the worry of every day life and the stress and anxiety can sometimes be overpowering. Stress about work; about our relationships and friendships; stress about our health - does it ever end? Of course it can. With the right help and support you can take control of your stress and anxiety and begin to lead a more fulfilling life.

If this has got you thinking then why not send me a quick e mail, or give me a ring and we can talk about the possibility of setting up an initial session. We can have a conversation about what you would like to get out of counselling and if you are happy with what you hear then we can take it from there.

A bit more about me:

I have been working as a counsellor for nine years and during this time I have built up a wide range of experience working with clients from 11 years old and upwards. During this time I have spent a lot of my time working with clients with stress, anxiety and relationship difficulties.

Social anxiety is one of the most common issues people are experiencing right now. We constantly ask ourselves “what if .......... “. And we quite often come up with all the wrong answers! This can lead to withdrawal, isolation and reduced confidence and self esteeem. This can play havoc with our relationships and friendships. I can work on this with you. I have the experience of working with clients who have had frequent panic attacks.

The breakdown of a relationship can be one of the most difficult issues to work through and the impact of this can have immense impact. The fear, worry and stress associated with the emotional aspect of a breakdown coupled with the anxiety about finances, where am I going to live; what’s going to happen with the children all add to the pressure. We find it hard to trust again and can quite often feel so alone in all this. I can help you through this.

One of the biggest challenges in any relationship is communication and a breakdown in communication often leads to the breakdown of the relationship. Together we can explore how communication is for you in your relationship and look for ways to improve communication if that is what you feel is needed. Confidence and self esteem can quite often be impacted in a relationship leading to issues around self acceptance, social isolation and fears of rejection. I can help you through this.

I believe the relationship between the client and therapist is of the utmost importance in any therapeutic work. If you, as the client do not feel listened to, valued and understood then it is very unlikely you will benefit from the counselling. I strive to ensure this does not happen.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been trained as an integrative therapist which allows me to call upon a range of methods and approaches to meet your needs. I use a variety of approaches depending on whatever the client brings to counselling.

A large part of my work to date has been in working with clients experiencing anxiety, stress and the break up of a relationship. All of this of course can have a big impact on individuals and families  with issues of rejection, isolation, low self esteem, trust etc coming up again and again. This can be addressed in counselling.

I have worked with many individuals that have made attempts to take their own life. If this is one of the issues that is troubling you I will work with you to try and identify the root causes of this and together we can look for ways to keep you safe.
