Due to the situation we find ourselves in at the moment, I have taken the decision to only offer Therapy sessions over Zoom, FaceTime, Skype and telephone. However I am only able to offer sessions to individual clients and not currently to couples, until such time as face to face sessions become possible again.
Whilst online therapy may be daunting and uncomfortable for some clients, I have been told by clients who feel anxious, that not having to leave home, drive and find my location has removed a great deal of stress and worry that may have prevented them from attending Face to Face Therapy sessions.
I have found having offered Online Therapy sessions for some years before the Pandemic, that a good therapeutic relationship can be made offering great opportunity for clients to challenge themselves and begin to feel empowered that they have overcome a fear or worry about Therapy Online.
I do however when it is legal and complies with Government guidelines, offer Outdoor Walking Therapy sessions in the beautiful Teesdale countryside.

Just because you have done something a particular way up till now does not mean that is the only way it can be. Change is terrifying and also exhilarating as well as inevitable in life. Embracing and shaping it is empowering.
The therapeutic process of counselling and psychotherapy can help us achieve and put in place changes we want to make.
Type of therapy I offer
TA is a theory of psychotherapy which helps to explain and illustrate how personality is formed and influenced throughout our childhood by our environment and experiences. How our beliefs and thoughts which influence them are created. It helps us greatly in understanding relationships in all forms and can be invaluable in making sense of situations which we are finding difficult, emotional or painful. This style of psychotherapy can help address problems quickly and directly as well as offering longer term exploration. Often, if a problem is made clearer it can be less of a problem. Although we cannot go back and 'fix' a situation in the past, we can explore and diminish the power of it and its affects in the present. This inevitably leads to change. The psychological games we can play unconsciously can be explored and identified easily with solutions that can have immediate affect.
We can at times in life lean on a crutch - thinking, relationships, addictions and these patterns allow us to distract from ourselves. We never feel happy ultimately. These patterns can be broken, gently and replaced with a healthy way to live happily.
Areas of special interest and experience...
I have over 12 years experience working in a specialised drugs counselling service seeing clients who are using street drugs and prescribed or over the counter medications, as a means of coping with life. I have experience working with families, parents and partners of someone whose life is affected by a substance. My experience extends to working closely with the dysfunction ( unhealthy) ways relationships can become when an addiction of some sort( substances, food, gambling) becomes entangled within the relationship. There is often an urge or compulsion to 'fix' the problem of the other person and when this happens relationships can become difficult and can break down. The addiction can then escalate and further problems arise. I work with couples often to address this and when the person who has the addiction is willing and able to acknowledge it, the relationship can be healed and repaired through time. Addressing the underlying issues is vital and can be a long and painful process requiring dedication and commitment within therapy.
Sexual Health and pregnancy
I have 13 years experience as a Lead Counsellor with a Sexual Health Service for young people. Issues and areas were wide and varied from unplanned pregnancy to STI screening and results.
I worked with Sight Loss for nearly 20 years seeing clients whose sight was impaired either through accident, illness or sight condition diagnosis. The loss, grief, fear and anger that can arise can be a challenge for the person affected and also for the family and partner too.
A little about me and my way of being a Therapist
My therapy style is to be authentic and transparent, approachable, flexible and empathic as I can be. We are all unique and need different ways of being listened to. I see the value of the therapeutic process to be so enlightening, awakening and empowering. I aim to be without judgement, with compassion and most of all, with acceptance.
i have particular interest and experience of mindfulness and the practice of meditation to allow a reconnection of the present moment in contrast to the busy mind that we all have. Learning to acknowledge our thoughts as passing through and ever-changing can have an immense impact on how we navigate our daily lives.
I incorporate meditation into a session if a client would like to do this. This practice encourages quietening the mind and being able to attend to what is happening at the present moment.
I offer therapy sessions currently online( Zoom, Skype, FaceTime) and telephone plus I can offer outdoor therapy sessions to individuals in a mutually arranged location during daylight hours.
Therapy outdoors gives a different, gentle and sometimes easier space to explore issues at a pace to suit you. Often a client may feel less anxious or uncomfortable walking side by side outdoors in nature allowing therapy sessions to flow organically and often using and relating to what is around and nearby. I have been offering online therapy sessions for 5 years now so have learned the advantages of this ( no limit to geographic location, particularly appealing to anyone who feels anxious in any way) and also the limitations of online therapy and how best to overcome them.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

I offer a free no obligation telephone consultation to all individual new clients giving an opportunity to ask me questions and for me to assess if I may be experienced in the areas wishing to be addressed.
Outdoor therapy sessions are one hour £50
Session fees are payable in advance when booking a session in order to secure it.

I offer sessions on Mondays during the day and evening. I can however be flexible on others days so do contact me to discuss. Thank you.
I also offer Outdoor Therapy sessions.
Outdoor Therapy offers a quiet and peaceful space for reflection and an opportunity for a different dynamic within the session, as walking and talking and listening are altered subtly. This can be a gentle way to explore difficulty.
