Teresa Solano Bsc Psy, Dip Coun, Reg. BACP
I have a degree in Psychology and a diploma in counselling using the person-centred approach. I have experience counselling people from all walks of life.
The degree helps me to rely on empirical evidence to see what works from the scientific point of view whilst learning person centred counselling helps me to build a congruent and honest therapeutic rapport with the client. The mix of the two sources helps enormously in the counselling room.
Through my experience I have found that self-discovery and acceptance are very important to get the best out of life and to deal with life stressors. I want to offer you in the counselling room that non-judgemental listening ear that enables you to understand yourself better. Once that you get to know yourself it would help you to deal with your life and relationships from a more self-aware standpoint. I will take that journey with you and help you along the way.
Besides working as a counsellor I have experience working for the NHS as a research assistant my speciality is HIV. This field has given a chance to work and develop knowledge about the conditon and how impacts peoples lives.
Counselling depends on the therapeutic relationship and the trust you build with me therefore it is very subjective and personal. We can have a first meeting and see how we can take it from there. Counselling is weekly and can be short term or long term according to your needs.
I can do therapy in English and Spanish.
I abide myself by the code of ethics and practice of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
