About me
l love working with people and supporting them to make positive changes in their lives. We all share the desire and drive to be the best person we possibly can and to have healthy, loving relationships. Sometimes life gets in the way and we get stuck in a moment, a thought or a pattern of behaviour. Life can be difficult and the way forward is not always clear. I believe everyone can benefit from therapy for personal growth, to live in the here and now and to better connect with the things that truly matter to you.
I am trained in Transactional Analysis (TA) which is a theory of personality that looks at how our past can affect our present and how old belief systems can sometimes get in the way of making the changes we want. It is also a great tool for understanding what is going on when we communicate with others and for developing our own self-awareness.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor registered with BACP.
I trained at The Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy in Advanced Clinical Psychotherapy and have a Post Graduate Diploma in Transactional Analysis from an integrative perspective.
I have a Primary Certificate in Stress Management (with CBT) and a Certificate in Coaching. I also have a Certificate in Person Centred Counselling.
I am committed to my own continuing professional development and undertake regular training. Recent training has included:
- Working therapeutically with Adult Adoptees
- Adult ADHD: Therapeutic themes and interventions
- Trauma-informed training
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I aim to offer a warm, safe and non-judgemental environment for you to share whatever it is that is causing you to seek therapy. I have experience of working with relationship problems including with siblings and blended families, adult adoptees, cancer, anxiety and depression, surviving sexual abuse and bereavement. Having worked in the corporate environment I am aware of the harm that work stress can have on our health and mental well-being and the challenges of maintaining a healthy work-life balance. I also have insight into some of the games that can get played out in the workplace and the harm they can do. Please get in touch if you would like to find out more. I offer a free initial 20 minute telephone consultation which you can book here online. I aim to respond to all contacts within 24 hours between Monday and Friday.

Further information
I came to Psychotherapy through my own experience of working with a Psychotherapist. I ran my own Information Technology company and saw no reason to stop; except something wasn’t quite right. My work was taking me further and further away from my personal values. The bigger the challenge, the harder I tried and the less rewarded I felt. I felt like I was stuck on a treadmill just feeding the machine but not feeling nourished. Therapy offered me a pause button. My weekly sessions gave me the space to get in touch with my real feelings and see how I was using my work to block them out. I was able to step off the treadmill, get in touch with what was important to me and realise that I had the power to change my life.
My training is in Advanced Clinical Psychotherapy at the Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy and I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Transactional Analysis from an Integrative Perspective. I have also trained in Person Centered Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Life Coaching and Stress Management. I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellers and Psychotherapist (BACP) and abide by their Code of Ethics.
