Teresa Finlay - UKCP accredited Psychotherapist and Supervisor
I am a qualified and accredited psychotherapist and clinical supervisor with over 10 years experience of working with clients experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties. I have trained in psychoanalytic/psychodynamic, CBT and mentalization based treatments.
I have extensive experience of working with the following:
- anxiety and panic attacks
- low mood
- relationship issues
- poor self-esteem
- miscarriage and termination
- disordered eating
- emotionally unstable/borderline personality disorder
- emotional intensity
- eating disorders
- employment issues/work related stress
Counselling and Psychotherapy provides a safe environment to talk through difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences with a qualified and impartial professional. Sometimes it can be helpful to talk to someone outside of your family or friendship group who will not offer advice or try to solve your difficulties but rather will help guide you to make the best decisions for yourself.
I have a range of trainings and as such will tailor my approach towards individual client needs.
With some clients I predominantly work using a psychodynamic and relational framework, looking at how past experiences have an on-going influence on our current thoughts, feelings and relationships. I also pay attention to internal conflict and ways in which we may work against ourselves.
In other cases I may use a more goal orientated, solution focused method.
I aim to help clients gain understanding and insight into their issues, to feel more in control of their lives, to achieve greater contentment and balance and to find healthy coping strategies to manage their difficulties.
As well as my core disciplines I have also taken additional courses in mindfulness techniques, trauma and training through the Foundation for Infant Loss.
I work from two consulting rooms, one in central Brighton and the other in West Hove.If you would like to book an initial appointment with me please contact me via this website or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
