- anxiety and panic attacks
- low mood
- relationship issues
- poor self-esteem
- reduced motivation
- disordered eating
- emotionally unstable/borderline personality disorder
- emotional intensity
- eating disorders
Counselling and Psychotherapy provides a safe environment to talk through difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences with a qualified and impartial professional. Sometimes it can be helpful to talk to someone outside of your family or friendship group who will not offer advice or try to solve your difficulties but rather will help guide you to make the best decisions for yourself.
I aim to help clients gain understanding and insight into their issues, to feel more in control of their lives, to achieve greater contentment and balance and to find healthy coping strategies to manage their difficulties.
I have a particular interest and specialism in working with all forms of emotional intensity, attachment issues and difficulties in interpersonal relationships (be that with partners, friends, family, work colleagues).
I am also very experienced at working with individuals dealing with employment related stress and bullying in the workplace.I predominantly work from a consulting room in central Hove but am also expanding and starting to use rooms in central Brighton. If you would like to book an initial appointment with me please contact me via this website or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Training, qualifications & experience
Between 2002 and 2005 I completed my counselling training, graduating with an Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling from Lambeth College in London.
From 2006 to 2012 I trained as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist (UKCP accredited) with the Arbours Association in North London. During this time I worked as a Resident Therapist at a therapeutic community and saw individual clients through the Arbours Psychotherapy Service and as an honorary therapist with the Women's Therapy Centre, London.
I have completed further CPD training in trauma-focused models, mindfulness interventions and Mentalization Based Therapy which is recommended for treatment of Borderline and Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder.
I have also completed the STEPS training via the NHS, which incorporates a mixture of CBT and DBT so am qualified to offer short-term skills-based interventions as well as open-ended therapy.
Since 2013 I have been working in private practice and with referrals from a local clinic. I currently also work as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist at the University of Sussex.
I have also completed my training as a Clinical Supervisor with the Guild of Psychotherapists.
