About me

Sometimes life can feel like a lonely place, and when there is no one to speak to or no one who seems to 'get it', the isolation can feel intense and overwhelming. It is surprisingly easy to feel lost and alone.

There are times when it might seem that “it’s all too much”. Perhaps you just feel confused, low in energy or in need of space to work things out. At such a point it might be beneficial to seek counselling within a safe environment.

Relationships can appear to have disintegrated and communication all but lost. It can be helpful to have the support of a Counsellor who will not only listen to you both but be prepared to be honest and genuine with you at the same time.

I was fortunate to have as a resource one to one counselling whilst my life was in upheaval and through counselling I was able to stay with my new-found uncertainties and fragility. I knew I was not coping very well but I still felt as if a new beginning was in motion that was healing and positive.

Gradually I found ways through which I could create a stability and security out of my chaos that had been revealed and exposed.   Sometimes the journey was painful - looking at the truth for oneself and the challenges that then no longer could be avoided - allowing me to move from a place of potential stuckness. Personally, I have found counselling for myself to have been enormously enriching and it has enabled me to discover a more authentic way of relating to others and of being real to myself.

Since qualifying as a Counsellor, I have set myself up in private practice and have on my business card a pinecone which beside it reads ‘an ancient symbol of regeneration’. I was regenerated. I connected with the emotional understanding that was missing from my experiences. The richness of my experiencing compelled me to rethink outworn habit patterns and emotional responses and left me more open-minded. I became more of me. As I gradually learnt about my weaknesses and by abandoning the pre-conceived notions I had of myself I have been able to acquire a greater sense of openness and, more importantly, of ‘not knowingness’. I feel more able to be present and genuine with my clients, to not know, to trust in their own experiencing. I have placed great value on my experiencing, and this I believe has enabled me to be more sensitive to others’ needs. I feel that I now have a greater ability to receive others on an emotional level because I have felt my emotions so richly myself.
