I am an experienced and qualified couples counsellor and sex therapist trained with Relate and I work with couples and individuals on a wide range of issues. I am a qualified sex addiction specialist working with addicts in the treatment and recovery of sex addiction and partners who have experienced trauma as a result of discovery of the sex addiction.
At times relationships can become a struggle and often many people find exploring their problems with an experienced professional can help them find new and helpful ways through the difficult periods.
The sort of difficulties that clients bring, whether on their own or as a couple, are:
* Anxiety attached to relationship and intimacy problems
* Separation and divorce
* Psychosexual difficulties
* Sex, love or porn addiction and other compulsive sexual behaviours.
* Bereavement, loss and grief
* Depression, stress and general anxiety
* Gender, sexuality issues
* Feelings of anger, mood swings
* Low self esteem and body image problems
I can work within a fixed number of sessions or longer term and I am based at my private clinic in the heart of Hove, East Sussex, with easy access to train, bus and main road links. There is free car parking close by.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have worked with individuals since 1999 and couples since 2006. I worked as a counsellor with adults with a number of difficulties ranging from pervasive developmental disorder to autism for 12 years, in addition to working with Relate for 10 years as a couples counsellor and psychosexual therapist. I have seen clients privately, in an NHS setting, within specialist agencies and charitable organisations and I now work solely in private practice.

Partners of Sex Addicts Counselling and Support.
The discovery of a sex addiction is NOT like the discovery of an affair and the betrayal devastates the partner in a way that most people simply cannot understand and I offer sex addict partner support and counselling .
Will that person ever be trustworthy again? Will the partner ever recover from the sense of loss they feel for the relationship they thought they once had? Will the partner ever think they can recover from this wreckage that was once their relationship?
With professional help the sex addict can get into recovery, the relationship can stabilise and trust can be restored.
In my experience the partner needs a good deal of space and time and a great deal of compassion to heal from the trauma of discovery/disclosure and then more of the same to contemplate the future. Be that with the addict in recovery or without.
The voyage to recovery is a tough one and it is ultimately best undertaken with a professional sex addiction therapist who knows what the couple are going through.
