About me

Accredited BACP Counsellor,  UK and Ireland Association EMDR therapist (For Trauma),and Graduate Member of BPS.

I hope the information below will give you a sense about how I work and how my clients experienced therapy with me.

My training is an integrative model. This allows me to draw from a wealth of knowledge, practice and experience from different therapeutic schools, and I can, therefore, tailor each session to your individual need.

I will encourage you to work at your own pace and in depth within our therapeutic relationships, in order to support you in establishing rich and deep relationships within your life. I believe that being understood is a central part of the healing process. I recognise that the therapeutic process can be painful and difficult, as well as rich and rewarding and I strive to work with compassion and empathy to create a safe and holding environment for our work together.

I am specialised in treatment of Depression, Anxiety, Trauma and PTSD, Relational and relationship issues including how one relates to the world around them and what other people can trigger in them.

Locations: South Kensington and Enfield.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an accredited counsellor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), a registered graduate member with the British Psychological Society (BPS),  an EMDR Registered Practitioner with the EMDR UK and Ireland Association, and a certificated Attachment Focused EMDR therapist. I am also registered with Insurance organizations such as Axa.

Following the accomplishment of a first class Master's Degree in Psychology in 2009, I have gained wide-ranging experience in many areas including working with Trauma, Depression, Anxiety and Relational Issues. I also hold a BACP Certificate of CFD (Counselling for Depressions) following a specific training which enhanced my knowledge and skills in treatment of depression. For this particular treatment, I will focus on here and now and support you to address what is currently an issue for you.  I am experienced in both short-term solution-focused therapy and long-term work. My working experience includes NHS services such as IAPT and also charity organisations such as MIND.

I specialise in Integrative Counselling. However, I emphasise on Psychodynamic intervention and childhood experience in my work. For more information please see my website.

In addition, I use a relatively new branch of counselling known as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). I find EMDR the most effective treatment for trauma. My EMDR interventions include the standard protocol of EMDR and also a new branch of EMDR that focuses on attachment in childhood (AF- EMDR). For more information please see my website.

Please see the reviews in my testimonial.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Further information

"At first I was unsure whether EMDR was the correct therapy for me but with your patience and guidance I have managed to resolve many different channels and feel as though a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders. Past therapies have left me feeling lost as the root of the problems were never addressed, but I now feel as though I have been thoroughly cleansed and am stepping out of the darkness and into the light of a new world, where I am no longer controlled by the past. It has given me hope for the future that things can always be resolved." J.P. 2020

"I attended talking therapy with Tara in order to address my anxiety and depression. Tara offered me the options of focusing on my current struggle which was triggered at my work or to address it more deeply by looking at my childhood and attachment style.

Having been offered the options rather than being fitted into a  particular Psychological model, gained my trust to start therapy with Tara.

Within our work in therapy, Tara was a very attentive and caring listener and picked subtle points that I was missing. It seemed to me that she asked the right question and gave me the space and safety to find the answer for myself.

It felt that in each session we discovered a new piece of the jigsaw and built up the big picture together. By the end of therapy my confusions and doubts had changed to a sense of clarity and confidence..." A.B 2019
