MBACP Dip. Counsellor. Body image issues & Trauma experience

About me

Hello and welcome!

I’m glad you have found my profile as this is one of the first steps to finding the support you need for what may be troubling you in life at this time.

My name is Tanya, an MBACP registered counsellor who works with a wide range of mental health difficulties and issues and here to help no matter how big or small you feel your issue is. My counselling focusses on your individual experience, whilst providing a safe and confidential space for you to explore what you are finding difficult.

I have experience of working with Body Image issues & complex trauma and over the years I have worked with organisations such Community Counsellor Services in Canterbury, East Kent Rape Crisis and I am able to offer counselling for ages 16+.

My therapeutic approach aims to help you navigate life and your problems with the reassurance that your journey to a happier wellbeing can be supported and encouraged through Safehealing. I understand how painful it can feel to try and work through issues on your own, whilst feeling unable to speak with friends or family about what is concerning you.

Trying to manage these overbearing and difficult thoughts, feelings and emotions can feel like an isolating experience but with the right support in place you can overcome these obstacles.  I focus on trying to alleviate these painful emotions by guiding you towards self acceptance and developing healthier coping strategies to deal with your emotions. For many, counselling may feel extremely daunting and scary to start and I fully understand how difficult it can be to start that first session and to show up feeling vulnerable and uncertain. Feeling anxious about the  process is completely natural and I am here to support you each step of the way, in your own time, on your journey.

Please feel free to find out more about my experience below and to discover if I am the right therapist for you.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
