About me
Due to COVID-19, I am only seeing clients for telephone and video sessions. I my clinic has been busy and delivered online for several weeks now. Many of my clients have commented upon how flexible, easy and effective online treatment has been for them. I often email reading material before or after sessions to compliment the work we are doing together. If you are not sure whether you feel comfortable with online therapy, I am happy to have a short no-obligation chat on-line for you to get a feel for it.
I will see clients for weight loss at a reduced rate (see my website for details).
I have worked in the field of mental health for over 20 years, in the NHS and in private practice. I offer cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing therapy (EMDR). My treatments are guided by (but not restricted to) NICE guidelines. I have extensive experience of working with a range of difficulties, including anxiety disorders, OCD, depression, insomnia, binge eating disorders and obesity.
CBT is a therapy that can teach you how to explore and modify your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and physical symptoms. We will be working together on the specific goals that we agree in the initial sessions. It is a collaborative treatment and requires some homework such as keeping a thought diary or trying out new behaviours.
My clinic is in a brand new dedicated space with its own entrance in my own home. It is a quiet and safe place for you to discuss your problems and focus on the solutions. If you aren't sure whether CBT or EMDR is the right thing for you, please contact me to arrange a no-obligation telephone consultation. I look forward to hearing from you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I graduated in Occupational Therapy (BSc Hons) in 2000. I worked for the NHS and Social Services in a range of mental health settings until 2010 when I completed my Post Graduate Diploma in Evidenced Based Psychological Treatment (CBT). I continued to work in the NHS as a CBT therapist for the next 10 years. During this time I also started a small private practice. I completed my EMDR training in 2018.
