About me

Hello, I am a qualified and experienced psychodynamic counsellor, committed to providing a safe, non-judgmental space for individuals seeking support.

I work with adults, children, and young people (11+), offering both long-term and short-term therapy tailored to each client's needs.

Whether you are feeling anxious, depressed, stuck or have unresolved issues from your past that are hindering your sense of peace and well-being, I provide a safe, supportive space to explore your inner world and foster personal growth.

My approach to counselling is grounded in psychodynamic principles, which recognize the profound impact of the unconscious mind on our current mental well-being. I believe that understanding how early life experiences influence present-day functioning is key to fostering personal growth and lasting change.

In my work, particularly with children and young people, I blend psychodynamic thinking with proactive strategies. This approach helps clients gain deeper self-awareness and equips them with practical tools to navigate life’s challenges. Together, we may explore creative methods to better understand and express feelings, always ensuring that our sessions are collaborative and led by your needs and goals.

In addition to psychodynamic and proactive counselling, I specialize in Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) for those dealing with PTSD. NET is unique in its focus on recognising and creating an account of what happened in your life in a way that serves to recapture your self-respect. This approach has been proven to be effective in the treatment of PTSD, earning a recommendation from the UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as a treatment for PTSD and pre-trial therapy.

In my practice, I take a trauma-informed approach to counselling, which means that I understand the pervasive impact of trauma and prioritize your safety, choice, and empowerment throughout the therapeutic process.

My practice is rooted in empathy, respect, and a genuine desire to help clients achieve their personal and emotional goals. Creating a safe, supportive, and confidential environment is a cornerstone of my practice. I understand that entering counselling can be a vulnerable experience, and I am committed to providing a space where clients feel comfortable and respected. I approach each session with an open mind and a non-judgmental attitude, allowing clients to express themselves freely and honestly and feel fully heard, valued and understood.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
