About me

I am a specialist psychoanalytic psychotherapist, mental health consultant and writer working with clients in creative industries. I work in Mayfair on Mondays and Tuesdays and in Harringay and online on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Occasionally, I can accommodate fly-ins (POA).

I am the founder of the Music Industry Therapist Collective and the editor of Touring and Mental Health: the Music Industry Manual.

Who do I work with?

I work with creatives, performers, people in high pressure positions and those in the public eye.  A lot of my work is with musicians, writers, film directors, fashion designers, creative directors and producers.

How do I work?

My work is informed by attachment-based psychoanalytic psychotherapy with a splash of existential theory. This means that in therapy we would explore  how relate to yourself and other people, the impact of formative relationships and how you make meaning from the world and your experiences. I am also trauma-informed, meaning I have undergone trauma trainings and have worked extensively with people who have trauma-related difficulties.

Working with a psychotherapist

People come to therapy for myriad reasons – often they feel lost, stuck, anxious, depressed, or wish to understand themselves, improve their relationships or cope better in day-to-day life.

Giving voice to your experiences, and having a witness in therapy, can be a healing and life-affirming experience but it's much more than simply offloading to an empathic listening ear. We aim to reach what lies beneath the narrative, to your unconscious. By examining unconscious motivations and the legacy of past pains, we aim to deepen your understanding of yourself and how you move through the world.

Some of the issues that my clients face include:

  • relationship, attachment and interpersonal issues
  • depression, anxiety and stress
  • grief, loss and bereavement
  • trauma, neglect, physical, sexual and mental abuse
  • identity, meaning and purpose
  • phobias
  • gender dysphoria
  • sexual expression
  • anger and emotional difficulties
  • receiving a clinical diagnosis

Training, qualifications & experience

Prior to training as a psychotherapist, I worked in the live music business, in various roles. Thanks to my contribution to the field of mental health in the music business, I was given the TPi Magazine 'Industry Recognition' award 2024. I have written various op-ed pieces for Music Business Worldwide, Therapy Today and IQ Magazine. Sometimes I'm invited to speak at music industry and performing arts health conferences such as SXSW, ADE, ILMC, Tallinn Music Week and PAMA.

Some places I have trained include:

  • Babette Rothschild - Somatic Trauma Training (ongoing)
  • Adult Attachment Interview Coding - The Adult Attachment Interview Institute
  • The Bowlby Centre - Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Clinical Training
  • Regent's University - Counselling & Psychotherapy MA
  • The Anna Freud Centre - Mentalisation Based Treatment

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
