Tamara Hoyton; MA (Dist) PgDip Couple Therapy, PgDip Psychosexual Therapy, MBACP
Hello, and a warm welcome to my profile.
I am a highly qualified, Relate trained Psychotherapist, Family & Young Peoples Counsellor, Psychosexual Therapist and Supervisor with 18 years of experience.
Whether in crisis, or perhaps a culmination of patterns are causing you current difficulty, you are invited to explore a preferred or different outcome in a warm, professional, and empathic opportunity to be heard, and more importantly, understood. I offer a non-judgemental space for reflection, understanding and potential change.
I am a Relationship and Psychosexual Therapist working with individuals, couples, families and young people. My belief is that good relationships are intrinsic to our well-being whether they are personal relationships, social, or professional.
I will work with you to find an understanding of your concerns, your deeper needs and how they are affecting your relationships through the professional connection we will make.
You might need to find a new balance after a time of crisis, or address issues that are causing unhappiness, pain, distress, or lingering dissatisfaction. You might be aware of repeating arguments and a sense of “here we go again” with no resolution, or beginning to see repeating patterns emerge in other areas of your life but not be sure how to change these things.
Many people bring past expectations and experiences into their present relationships and this may lead to feelings of being misunderstood, unheard and of loneliness. All of which can affect the sense of who we are; our authentic self.
It is this relation to the ‘self’ that is sometimes most troubling as our capacity for resilience endures; but at a cost to who we want to be, or the way we want to our lives to be lived.
Change happens in many ways. Sometimes it’s subtle, sometimes over time, through talking therapies such as counseling or psychotherapy, or changing of behaviours. It need not be anxiety invoking, however, as all therapy I offer is tailored to your needs and presentation.

Much has been written about the efficacy of variable therapy modalities, and overwhelmingly research has shown that it is the quality of the client - therapist relationship that is the greatest indicator of success.
I strongly subscribe to this view and put great emphasis on building a professional therapeutic alliance.
