About me
“Healing doesn’t mean the damage never existed, it means the damage no longer controls our lives.” - Akshay Dubey
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to learn about you too.
How I Work
I'm Suzie and as a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and founder of Nacre Therapy, I offer a safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental space for adults navigating life’s challenges. Whether you’re facing grief, relationship difficulties, anxiety, low self-esteem or burnout, I believe that with the right support, every person has the capacity to heal, grow and move toward a more grounded and authentic self.
My approach is integrative, drawing from a variety of psychotherapeutic theories, tailored to suit your unique needs. I work online, which allows you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own space. Therapy with me isn’t just about resolving problems, it’s about uncovering meaning, restoring inner balance, and reconnecting with your inherent resilience.
Like nacre, the mother-of-pearl substance that transforms irritation into strength and beauty, I believe we too can transform life’s difficulties into something deeply meaningful.
Some people come to therapy in the midst of a crisis or significant loss; others are simply seeking clarity, self-understanding or support with a life transition. My role is to sit alongside you, helping you gently explore what’s happening in the here and now, make sense of your emotions, and build sustainable tools for moving forward.
Together, we will bring curiosity, honesty and care into the space. I will listen closely, help you connect with what’s beneath the surface, and challenge unhelpful patterns or beliefs where needed, always with kindness, and always at your pace.
Therapy is a collaborative journey. You bring your story, your hopes, your pain and I bring my presence, experience and deep respect for your process. Together, we co-create a space that supports healing, growth, and reconnection to the self.

- Low self-esteem and perfectionism

Training, qualifications & experience
My path into counselling followed a career in finance, which gives me a unique perspective on professional stress, identity and the pressures of high-achieving environments. A pivotal chapter in my life was working at a women’s rehab in Georgia, USA, where I saw the lasting impact of trauma and the power of connection. That experience led me to retrain and dedicate my career to helping others heal and thrive.
I hold the following qualifications:
- Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
- Level 3 Certificate in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling (Heart & Mind - London)
- Level 5 Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling (Heart & Mind - London)
- Combined Level 2 & 4 Certificate in Substance Misuse
- TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Self-Harm and Suicide Awareness and Prevention
- The Coaching Way with Tara Mohr
I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and committed to ongoing professional development and ethical practice.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Taking the First Step
Starting therapy can feel daunting, especially if you’ve never had counselling before or are unsure of what to expect. That’s why I offer a free, no-pressure introductory call. We’ll talk briefly about your needs and see whether working together feels right. If we decide to move forward, we’ll arrange your first full session and begin this journey at a pace that feels safe and respectful of where you are.
I look forward to hearing from you and walking alongside you on your path to healing and growth.
