About me
Are you looking for someone to help you through a difficult time in a safe, private and confidential place?
I work online and outside (walk & talk) as a BACP Accredited Therapist and Supervisor in private practice with over 18 years experience. I offer both short and long term counselling and psychotherapy to adults and young people experiencing a wide range of different issues that are impacting their life and ability to function.
I work as a Gestalt therapist aiming to increase awareness of how we function in relationships and in the world. Rather than my trying to do something to you I work with clients to develop a working relationship that is respectful, confidential and suited to your individual needs. What you bring to therapy will be unique to you, therefore it is important that you are able to be heard and your views and ideas listened to. I will then work with you within the confines of a safe, caring and respectful relationship where I endeavour to give you my best attention at all times.
I am very committed to being a therapist and working with clients. Sometimes clients may feel that what they want to talk about in therapy might not be relevant. In my experience any issue or anything a client wants to explore is very relevant. Issues that clients bring are often very wide and varying.
For example I work frequently with clients who experience anxiety or stress but I also work successfully with many, many different issues. Some of these might include life questions such as how do I feel more fulfilled, happier, how do I stop making the same mistakes, why am I scared of everything, what stops me being able to be more intimate, why do I drink too much or why do I find it so hard to have friends.
Sometimes difficulties in relationships or life events such as bereavement or illness can be complicated due to unresolved past issues and old patterns of relating. It could be that you may have experienced trauma or abuse in your history and find that this significantly impacts your life now; or you experience depression, anxiety or suffer from panic attacks and don't understand why. Having someone to talk to in the moment to moment relating between client and therapist can support you to explore such patterns of relating and ultimately facilitate change helping you to find more peace and fulfillment in life.
I would also add that sometimes it can feel extremely difficult to reach out and contact a therapist. I understand this and I also know that often once you have reached out you can feel less alone and the process of therapy can start.
I have a particular interest in trauma and abuse as I spent 5 years working for a charity that supported victims of sexual abuse and another charity that worked with victims of domestic violence. I also worked within the NHS's Sexual Abuse Referral Centre (SARC). In addition I worked for 2 years within a Substance Misuse Team and specifically I worked with children who had been impacted by this issue. Working within these organisations has supported me to be able to offer a wealth of experience to clients I now work with. It also prompted me to want to further my own personal development and training. So whilst I trained initially as a Person Centred Counsellor for the past 12 years I have been studying Gestalt Psychotherapy to increase my understanding of wider and more complex mental health issues. I work now solely in private practice both online from my home and outside in my local wood where I offer ‘walk & talk’ therapy. Nature can be very supportive and sometimes clients prefer to be outside in nature whilst talking about the issues that they bring to therapy.
I also work as a Supervisor in private practice for many individuals both in training and who are already qualified. I also have experience in offering external supervision to individual working as Social workers, teachers and other relevant professions where they might benefit in having someone they are able to talk to about issues that arise at work.
I also offer online counselling and supervision.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
