About me

Are you overwhelmed by difficult emotions or thoughts, or do you find it hard to feel anything at all? Do relationships seem difficult? Are you feeling stuck?

Life can sometimes be tough and confusing, but I am here to help you find a way forward.

Difficult emotions, feelings, and thoughts: Do you feel anxious or find it hard to escape negative thoughts? Do you feel angry, or numb and empty? During our sessions, we can work to understand and manage any difficult emotions, feelings, and thoughts, so you can find a healthier and more fulfilling way of being.

Relationship problems: Are you having problems in your relationships? Do things keep going wrong but you don’t understand why? Therapy can help you understand what is happening, so you can find a better way of connecting with other people.

Feeling stuck: Are you struggling to move forward? Do you feel lost or overwhelmed? In our sessions, we can explore what might be preventing you from moving forward, or how your past might be affecting how you’re feeling in the present.

How I work

I offer a warm, friendly, non-judgmental, safe space where we can work through whatever is troubling you.

In our sessions we can explore your thoughts, feelings, emotions, and behaviours, so you can better understand yourself and your situation, and find ways to overcome problems.

I am a qualified integrative counsellor, which means I use different approaches which I tailor, so I can respond to what is right for you.

I am experienced in supporting people with problems that include:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Emotional problems
  • Low self-esteem
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Past trauma

I currently mainly have availability for online video sessions. I do have some limited availability for in-person.

If you would like to find out more about counselling with me, please do get in touch via email.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). Registration number: 400405

I have worked for several years with a community counselling service, providing therapy to adults with a range of issues, including trauma.  I spent many years working in the public sector, supporting people who had experienced traumatic events. I have had a lot of experience helping people in mental health crisis. I also worked for a decade in a business environment, and for many years in leadership roles, so I understand work pressures and stress.

My qualifications and training include:

  • Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy Accredited Training) – Iron Mill College
  • Certificate in Counselling (National Counselling Society quality checked) – Iron Mill College
  • Ph.D. in Physiology (neurosciences) - University College London

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
