About me

SUZANNE WOOD-SIMMONS COUNSELLOR MBACP, NCPS (ACCRED)

Your story matters and so do YOU

I live in Kingswinford in the West Midlands. My roots are humble, and I am proud of them. They have made me who I am today. I am honest, friendly and down-to-earth. It is my personal experience of person centered psychotherapy, and the benefits thereof, that lead me to qualify as a counsellor. I am passionate about mental health, having not only worked in the sector for over a decade but also struggled with my own traumatic history and mental health (and the stigma surrounding it). I want to give my clients time and the chance to be really heard, to be visible, validated and understood without judgement. I have many varying personal interests and hobbies from Heavy Metal, Motorbikes and Tattoos to Crochet.

I am kink aware/friendly.

I am an Accredited Member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

Training, qualifications & experience

In addition to my BA (Hons) Degree, I also have a Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

I have special interests in cultural and faith issues, adoption, kink and a real passion for working with clients who are neurodivergent, ex offenders, and sex workers.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
