About me

I work from an office in a garden of a residential property. My aim is to offer a calm and welcoming safe space in which we can explore the difficulties and issues that have led you to seek help. I am able to offer sessions for as long as is necessary to your individual needs. If you would like to contact me by phone or email we can discuss when we will meet. During this first meeting we will talk about what you brings you to counselling and if we agree to work together set up further sessions. Ordinarily I would hold open a regular time and day each week for your sessions but this is something that can also be discussed.

I was drawn to the idea of counselling from a much younger age and feel that there's something rewarding about the working relationship between myself and client. This extends to an interest on my part in helping the helper who often in taking care of others neglects themselves to the point of depletion. Unfortunately taking care of ourselves is not always something that comes naturally although it is an important part of being human.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked as a trained counsellor to a Masters level for approximately 12 years in various settings. I have also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Supervision. I have worked with clients with varying issues including generalised anxiety disorder, panic attacks and depression and have a background of working in mental health before training as a counsellor.

I feel that we are very much the sum of our past and looking at this in relation to our present is both relevant and essential to understanding the way we work as individuals.Therapy is a way of gaining knowledge about ourselves and once obtained it can offer a potential for us to make changes. These changes can in turn help us better manage our distress at the difficulties that will inevitably be thrown at us in life.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
