About me
Hi, I’m Suzannah, and here is a little about why I became a creative counsellor. My journey began with me overcoming personal adversities. The challenges of dyslexia, loss, and complex relationships fuelled my empathy and desire to become a therapist. Seeking therapy helped me transform my way of thinking about myself and my relationships with others. Finding a counsellor who saw me for who I was and who did not stand in judgement of me was transformational; it helped me build my self-confidence and overcome anxiety.
Trying to live up to someone else’s expectations can be extremely draining, and knowing whatever you do, it never seems to be enough can have a great impact on your mental well-being. I understand the exhaustion of constantly hearing phrases like ‘What’s wrong with you? Or why can’t you just…?'
We all have a story, and even if the past chapters of your life have not been what you expected, you still have the possibility to write future ones that tell the story of who you really are.
Therapy helped me to realise the importance of maintaining healthy boundaries and informed choices. This has been the framework for my therapeutic approach to counselling and drives my empathy for people who are struggling.
Therapy is all about relationships and being able to speak freely without feeling judged in a supportive environment is important; as your counsellor, I can offer you this.
Your mental well-being will always be at the forefront of my approach to therapy and our work together. Being an integrative counsellor means I can integrate a range of skills and techniques to tailor sessions to you individually.
Working together, I can help you to regain your confidence whilst we explore issues either from your past or present, helping you to regulate your emotions and improve your self-esteem and coping skills. To build up your self-awareness to make positive changes within yourself and relationships.
I offer counselling sessions in Buckhurst Hill, Loughton, Woodford Green, Wanstead, Leytonstone, and the surrounding E11, IG8, and IG10 postcodes.
Training, qualifications & experience
Experience
Recognising that you may need help is the first step. The second is knowing you can create a trusting and confidential therapeutic relationship with your counsellor. I can support and guide you in finding your way; a good counsellor helped me through mine.
Central to my private practice is working in a person-centred way and combining other therapeutic styles of therapy, such as psychodynamic therapies and CBT.
I am experienced working with clients who have had one or more of the following issues, which include anxiety, ADHD, autism, dyslexia, depression, stress management, trauma (childhood & adult), low self-esteem, relationship challenges, abuse (verbal, sexual, physical, and emotional), low mood, loss, suicide, and bereavement.
As part of my continued professional development (CPD), I attend regular specialised trainings to keep up to date with my skills and knowledge; for example, some of the recent CPD trainings include Understanding Attachment Styles in Childhood, Working with the Inner Child, Working with Neurodivergence in the Therapy Room, Understanding Anxiety, Safety Techniques in Trauma, Understanding Intergenerational Trauma, and CBT Techniques to Support Clients with Excessive Worry, which have a direct impact on how we communicate and our relationships.
I offer face-to-face, online, and telephone counselling sessions. All sessions are conducted in a private and confidential space to ensure a high level of privacy, where you can talk freely in a warm, welcoming and confidential therapy room.
Each session lasts for the duration of 50 minutes. I can work with you on a long-term and short-term basis. Sessions are scheduled either weekly or bi-weekly or when required.
Being able to use different therapy tools and techniques allows me to work more creatively with you, helping you unconsciously tap into and connect to your deeper emotions. In exploring your emotions, you will be able to better understand your triggers and how past unresolved conflicts can affect your daily life, enabling you to manage and improve your emotional well-being.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I offer counselling sessions in Buckhurst Hill, Loughton, Woodford Green, Wanstead, Leytonstone, and the surrounding E11, IG8, and IG10 postcodes.
If you needed, I can offer you a free 15-minute introductory call; I can arrange this for you via text or email, and we can arrange to speak at a time which is convenient for you. This will allow you to hear my voice, as some clients prefer to see if they are comfortable speaking with me and allow me to gain a better understanding of your situation.
Once you are ok to continue, we can make arrangements to schedule our first session at your convenience.
During our first session, we will talk about how we can work together, and we will complete a brief assessment, so I will know how to best help you.
