Life can be really challenging at times - throwing us off course. Things we thought were in the past can resurface, difficult experiences can leave us feeling overwhelmed and stuck, our thoughts and feelings can be all consuming and stop us living the lives we want to live, it can be hard to cope and find a way through. Sometimes it’s hard to know what you want and where you want to get to, or why the same things seem to be happening over and over again. Sometimes we just need to feel heard.
How I Work:
My approach is integrative, which means that I am able to integrate various different approaches, tools and techniques to suit your issues and preferred ways of working. I believe that experiencing warmth, empathy and openness can help people heal, grow and develop in the ways that are best for them, to tune into inner resources, overcome challenges and identify and realise life aspirations.

How I can help you:
Finding the right therapist or coach is really important and I offer a free initial consultation to give you an opportunity to find out how we might work together to address your needs and goals.
Our one to one sessions can be conducted face to face in Pluckley, and Egerton (and other locations in Kent by prior arrangement) or by telephone or by Skype, as best suits your needs. We can get started quickly and work longer term if you need to.
Evening appointments are available to fit around your work and family commitments.
I am able to provide sessions face to face, by telephone or by Skype. How ever we meet for sessions, I will work with you to build a trusting, open and supportive relationship, and give you space to feel heard as we work together towards your goals.
Counselling offers a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space to feel supported, to explore and re-evaluate, to bringing a sense of clarity and a fuller understanding. It can be a means of bringing about change and finding a focus for moving forward to who, where and how you want to be.
Psychotherapy is, in many ways, similar to counselling. Sessions offer a safe and non-judgemental space for us to work together to explore more deeply the roots of ongoing psychological and emotional issues which may be affecting your ability to engage with and enjoy life. We may address common mental health and well-being issues using relevant theories and research based tools and techniques to help us develop and employ treatment plans. Psychotherapy typically takes place over a longer term, is more in depth and we may meet more frequently than weekly if you need to.
Coaching, or Personal Consultancy, is typically focused on learning and personal or professional development - providing a space for you to get the support you need to achieve a specific goal or improve a skill or competence. Like counselling and psychotherapy coaching offers a safe and confidential space, dedicated to you, to explore where you want to get to, how you might be able to get there and find strategies and resources to help overcome any barriers you encounter. We may meet regularly, or on a more ad hoc basis as suits your needs.
Mindfulness offers a range of tools and techniques to help us reconnect with ourselves and live in the present, it is an invitation to take a break from the business of 'doing' and focus on 'being' and 'experiencing'. Mindfulness can be successfully used to lower stress and anxiety, improve mood and aid relaxation, increase wellbeing and mental and physical health, improve concentration, develop self-awareness, build mental and emotional resilience, cope better with pain and discomfort and to promote restful sleep. I provide both 1:1 mindfulness classes and group courses and workshops. Mindfulness techniques can also be integrated into therapeutic sessions.
Though most of us struggle with life somewhere along the way, I understand that it can take tremendous courage to decide to seek help, and to invest the time and energy to try to make changes. I have provided counselling and coaching services to adults and young people in a variety of organisations, as well as private practice, and I lead and supervise a network for volunteer coaches.
As a member of the BACP, I work within their ethical framework for good practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. My coaching work conforms to the AICTP's code of ethics.
