About me
I am a humanistic psychotherapist and offer counselling and psychotherapy on a short term or long term basis in Highate Village N6 and Crouch End N8.
Most people come into therapy with a specific issue they want to address. I will support you to explore what is not working in your life and help you to find your own solutions. I will get to know you and work with you in a way that best supports you. I am empathic and I will challenge you when needed.
You may be seeking therapy because you are experiencing difficult emotions such as stress, anxiety, anger, or low self esteem. You may have relationship difficulties, work related problems (including bullying), or parenting issues. You may have been through a bereavement or are experiencing the impact of sexual or physical abuse, either as a child or as an adult.
You don’t have to be in crisis to do therapy. Therapy is a way of giving yourself time to reflect and make changes so you live your life the best way you can. Therapy can help you to reflect on where you currently are and what you would like to achieve in the future. I can help you on that journey.
All of our work is confidential. I encourage you to be open and honest and will not judge you. What you want from therapy may suit brief therapy or longer-term work. We may meet for a specific length of time or your work may be open-ended. We will discuss this at the beginning and review from time to time during our work together.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have completed 6 years training at Spectrum, a centre for humanistic and integrative psychotherapy. I am a BACP (The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) Accredited counsellor and humanistic psychotherapist and work in accordance with their ethical framework.
I am interested in people, our uniqueness and differences. I have worked in IT for 25 years and have brought up a family. I understand the challenges of balancing work with the demanding commitments of life and family. I am passionate about therapy which has been of immeasurable value in my life.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
