Hello, my name is Sue and I work as a Person-Centred counsellor with a variety of issues. I work from a private space in the HU6 area of Hull.
Life doesn't always go to plan!
I know from experience that seeking help can be daunting and feel scary, yet we all encounter times when we need to be heard, understood and offered help. I offer a supportive, confidential space in which to explore whatever is bringing you to therapy.
We can find ourselves in situations and relationships, experiencing emotions we just don't understand or know how to deal with. Counselling provides time and space just for you. Time to talk through feelings, time to explore who you are and what you need.
How can I help?
By exploring your unique needs and experiences in an place of acceptance and compassion, I aim to work with you to enable you to express emotions whilst discovering your own potential to grow.
I take great pride in my work and feel privileged to be able to work alongside individuals as they work through their issues.
My experience, training and CPD has given me a particular interest in working with adults and children who have experienced childhood trauma and broken attachments. For some disrupted attachments can lead to a lot of uncertainty in life. I work with individuals who are ready to grow, heal and repair the effects of their trauma and broken attachments.
All sessions are held in strict confidentiality and I comply with the BACP code of ethics.
My own journey.
During a time when I had some life challenges I worked with a counsellor to identify my stumbling blocks. The essence of our work was to facilitate self-growth and it was there where I discovered my own potential to work with others by helping them to achieve their own goals too. It led on to me gaining the relevant qualifications to be able to use my skills and expertise to help individuals to discover ways to identify their stumbling blocks and to work through their own life challenges.
What happens next?
Each person is unique and every situation is different, so the number of sessions you require is also individual and is reviewed frequently.
I offer an initial free introductory phone call to assess your needs and to find our whether counselling with me is right for you and to explain the formal requirements for safe practice. Please call and leave a message (I may be in session so cannot always answer calls immediately). Or send me an email and I will arrange initial contact.
I have availability at various times during the week and I also have some sessions available on Saturdays.
(Saturday appointments may have a waiting list. )
