Please do not hesitate to contact me directly with any questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am BACP registered having achieved a Diploma at Masters level 7 in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Warwick as well as the BACP Certificate of Proficiency.
I am also a member of the UKCP as a psychotherapist in training, in my 3rd year working towards an MSc in Holistic Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Warwick.
I have worked with clients in the charity sector who have loved-ones or are suffering with addiction or life-limiting illness and grief.
I have spent over 20 years in a different role with those suffering physical, emotional and sexual abuse, both as adults and children, and have an understanding of the issues of navigating the judicial system. I also have personal experience of childhood parent loss and of child loss as well as the difficulties of trying to support a loved one with coexisting addiction, mental and physical health issues which has given me an insight into the challenges such experiences bring.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
As your therapist I will encourage you to reflect on your own thoughts and feelings around your concerns, giving you a space to be heard and to do this without judgement and in confidence*. My focus will be on you and what is important to you. I believe that you are the expert on your own life and experiences and, therefore, I will not be bombarding you with advice, telling you what to do, but rather helping you to discover or explore your own perspectives on what is best for you at this moment in time. I will not pressure you to make changes but will aim to discover with you what changes are realistically achievable for you. We may work together for however long we both feel is necessary, which could be anything between 6 weeks to over a year. This can be agreed at the beginning but adjusted as required.
After an initial phone call, I offer a free pre-session in which we can discuss your expectations, how many sessions you may require, whether face to face or online therapy is best for you and any other questions you have. This gives both of us an opportunity to decide if we are happy to work together. I will call you a few days later and, If we do decide to go ahead I will send you a written contract for you to review and, if in agreement, we will both sign this before commencing therapy.
If we decide to have our meetings in person the room I use is in a beautiful, peaceful location and has a warm and comfortable atmosphere.
* There are a very few areas that legally require therapists to breach confidentiality to other professionals and I will explain these to you when discussing our contract.
