About me

About my Practice

I offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for common mental health disorders and behavioural problems such as addiction. I specialise in Trauma-Focussed CBT.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for all issues for which CBT is recommended according to NICE guidelines.

Alcohol Reduction/Abstinence Counselling for changes to improve health and lifestyle.

Emotion-Focused Therapy for all issues especially for depression and relationship issues of all types.

In line with good therapeutic practice, we review progress and helpfulness, with no set min. or max. number of sessions required. However, CBT is based on research outcomes, which indicate a number of sessions to be most helpful for certain disorders. This will be discussed with you during your first appointment. CBT is unlikely to be effective with anything less than 4 sessions.

The positive effects of therapy can be long-lasting, making it easier to cope with daily and future life events.

Practice Location

Sessions are held in a designated therapeutic and confidential practice, located conveniently in Market Drayton town centre. The practice is on the first floor accessed by stairs. There is ample parking nearby.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Psychotherapist in counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (MSc Counselling Psychology & PG Dip. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and an accredited member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP Accred.). These associations provide the professional practice standards to which I adhere.

I have experience in counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) across a broad range of services. I have worked as a counsellor within GP surgeries, within a hospice service and within an alcohol and addictions service. I have worked as a CBT Psychotherapist within the NHS and within a specialist inpatient treatment centre for military veterans. My experience in offering counselling and CBT covers a wide range of difficulties and mental health issues including depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other issues arising from difficult life events.

I provide training in counselling skills and CBT to professionals, organisations and students.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
