About me

As a fully qualified and experienced counsellor I provide a quiet, non judgemental and confidential space to enable you to explore the issues which concern you. I work with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, low esteem, sexual and physical abuse, victims of domestic violence, Relationship issues. I am an accredited IAPT counsellor having worked with couples with depression and I am also an experienced young adolescent counsellor having worked over 15 years in colleges and schools.

Counselling gives support in private to deal with personal difficulties and is often known these days as a “talking therapy”. Counselling aims to give you the opportunity as well as the time and the space to discuss issues which are negatively impacting on your life. The idea is to enable you to reach choices and decisions of your own in order to cope with any issues.

Coping with professional and personal difficulties can be exhausting and may take its toll on our ability to function both at work and at home. Counselling can offer a space to explore and gain awareness about your difficulties. It can help you to understand what is happening and facilitate you to identify different choices and/ or coping strategies.

At times like this you can feel isolated or unsure as to how to move forward and it does take courage to take this first step.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am trained as an integrative counsellor, working from a client-centered perspective, with a belief that everyone has unique characteristics and issues. My qualifications include both a FdA and B.A. Hons in counselling, extensive experience working as a RELATE counsellor having worked with couples and individuals both at RELATE for 20yrs and in a G.P. practice. I also have experience as a school counsellor having worked 15yrs with young people aged 11 – 25yrs. Having also trained within the NHS I achieved a foundation skills in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).

I would offer you an opportunity, in a safe environment, to explore whatever concerns you may have and help you to find a way to achieve a better understanding of yourself, your feelings, thoughts and experiences. My role is not to tell you what you should do but to help you to empower yourself and make choices that may lead to more fulfillment in your life.
As a qualified trainer I am able to deliver coaching for issues relating to parenting, self esteem, personal confidence and relationship issues.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
