About me
My aim as a counsellor is to offer a safe, non-judgmental environment that will enable you to explore any problems you may have at present. I am an integrative counsellor, which means I work with different therapeutic approaches and adapt these to suit your individual needs
I’m a qualified counsellor and registered with the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I’m fully insured and in monthly supervision to support my work and safeguard both myself and my clients. I also hold a current DBS (disclosure barring service). I qualified as a counsellor after having made the decision to change careers. Previously I was a primary school teacher and SENCo (special educational needs co-ordinator).
I enjoy working with people from different backgrounds and with different life experiences using knowledge and skills gained through my counsellor training, my years as a teacher and SENCo and life experience as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, friend and colleague. I, therefore, draw on a range of life experiences as well as training to help me empathise with my clients and to support them on their counselling journey.
I believe we all have the ability to grow, affect change and help ourselves gain a more meaningful life and that counsellors can support their clients to do this. On a counselling journey people often discover that they develop greater self- awareness and confidence to find new ways to approach life’s challenges.
We will discuss the issues you bring to counselling and decide together what you’d like to focus on. I will support you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Counselling is supportive but can at times be challenging so we will work at a pace that is right for you.
Counselling can support people through a range of issues, including difficulties with mental health, changes in personal life, diagnosis of illness, redundancies and work-related stress and anxiety. I am particularly interested in how people cope with life transitions such as new personal relationships/ becoming single again/ entering parenthood/ empty nest/career changes/ retirement/ loss of a parent.
I love to learn and am always looking for ways to better support my clients. I’m interested in many aspects of therapy and am committed to continuing my professional and personal development through ongoing training and lifelong learning.
Sessions can be online or face-to-face depending on your preference. I work from home and have a private, comfortable therapy space where we can work together.
If you would like any further information or would like to book in, please contact me via email.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
Contacting a counsellor for the first time can feel daunting so it is important to feel comfortable with your counsellor. Therefore, once you've sent the initial email, we will arrange a free online/ phone 'no-obligation' consultation. This assessment session is 15 - 30 minutes, therefore different from a usual counselling session. We will talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you want to achieve, what counselling can offer and how the sessions will work. Thereafter, fees are £60 per session.
