Susan Banks Therapy
1A Cock & Bell Lane
I work person centred and intergratively which means I can tailor sessions to each client’s individual needs. Sometimes life can become stressful. We can all experience a difficult time, problems at work, relationship issues, depression, bereavement, the list is infinite. Sometimes these problems can seem insurmountable and overwhelming. The majority of us struggle through on our own when we don't need to. This is where by sharing and talking through your concerns can be beneficial.
What I Can do for You
I aim to help you discover the appropriate coping tools and strategies for you to overcome the obstacles that are preventing you from moving forward and living your life to its full potential. I provide an environment that is safe and confidential that allows you to feel heard and accepted with understanding and empathy and without judgement. I can help you gain clarity on a problem.
Feel free to get in touch, I am always happy to talk to you. My initial consultations are an easy way to find out how therapy services can help you. Where possible these are free, in some cases there is a small charge to cover the room hire cost.
If you feel ready just book for an initial consultation, or if you want to ask a question, drop me line or pick up the phone.
Start your journey with a personal assessment to understand where you are now, where you want to be and how therapy services can help you. I will take time to understand you and your needs, matching you to the right therapy at a time to suit you.

As a hypnotherapist I work safely and ethically and uphold the ethical code of the Institute of Clinical Hypnosis. I hold an advanced diploma in hypnotherapy from the ICH.
Improve the quality of your life through hypnotherapy.
Do you need to make changes in your life?
Hypnosis can be effective for many conditions that affect many people in their daily life. It allows for the barriers of fear and anxiety to be removed. It increases your confidence to deal with a situation that you may find distressing or inhibiting to your wellbeing. It can bring relief from a stressful situation. Therapeutic hypnotherapy can be effective in the following areas:
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
What Is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a form of 'trance' that should not be confused with sleep. The state of trance entered into in hypnosis is a natural state and is similar to the levels of trance we all enter into in our daily lives. This is perfectly natural and can be recognised in the following example: How many times have you been driving safely from A to B and not been able to recall parts of the journey? This is called the 'highway trance state'. We are rarely in a state of full alert consciousness as this is something our minds reserve for learning and experiencing new things.
How Does Hypnosis Work?
Because we spend the majority of our time in a trance state we know we can trust our unconscious mind to take us through the routine part of our lives without any interference from the conscious mind. However, human nature being what it is results in many of us worrying on a conscious level, which can lead us to become self-conscious. We can begin to over concentrate on a problem, this can cause stress, anxiety, depression, and in extreme case's illness. Hypnosis can access the unconscious mind bypassing the conscious mind that is often in a negative self-critical state. This allows the unconscious mind to find a more objective, positive solution.
What Does A Hypnotherapist Do?
A trained hypnotherapist will utilise the human ability to fall naturally into a trance state. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis but with a hypnotherapist it is more effective. The hypnotherapist acts merely as a guide and works with you. You remain in control at all times and cannot be made to do anything you don't want to do.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
This depends entirely on the individual and the nature of the problem. The average is three to four sessions.
- Cognitive and behavioural therapies
- Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
- Gestalt therapy
- Humanistic therapies
Fees vary according to the type and location of the therapy chosen. Please visit my website for a full list of fees. www.susanbankstherapy.co.uk
I believe in choosing the right therapy and therapist for you as the therapeutic relationship between a counsellor and client is key for the therapy to be effective. For this reason I offer an initial 30 minute telephone or email constitution which is always free to help answer any immediate concerns you may have. From there you can decide whether you feel ready to start counselling.
Once you have decided to take the next step we can arrange an appointment to discuss your needs and expectations of the therapy. We will discuss your history to gain an understanding of your past as this helps gain an insight into your current situation. From there we will discuss whether you feel comfortable with committing to counselling.
You can book a session with me by telephone or by email. We will have an initial chat about what you would like to gain from the sessions. To book a session or make an enqireiy you can call me on: 07908 107935 this is a dedicated line and is answered by myself or another therapist. This number is available 24 hours and goes on to voicemail when I'm unable to answer, so please be sure to leave your number and details and I will return your call as soon as possible. You can also Skype me: susanbanks.therapy or you can email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
I hope I have the privilege of meeting you on the first step of your very own personal journey of self-discovery and fulfilment. Until then I look forward to hearing from you.
