About me

Many years ago, I began my own therapeutic journey and discovered the benefits of having a space to explore and navigate some difficult emotions. Through this experience I gained a better understanding of myself and my relationship with the world. It was a profound experience in which I understood that having a safe, holding and supportive space to explore and be, could tremendously impact one's life. It inspired me to become a therapist myself.

As a therapist I am passionate about helping others to navigate the complexities of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in a way that promotes growth, healing, and self-compassion. My goal in the therapy room is to create a safe, empathetic space where you feel comfortable exploring whatever is on your mind, knowing that we’re in it together, with respect for your autonomy and pace.
I am curious and looking to have a deeper understanding of your human experience- how relationships, identities, and personal histories  have shaped you. My role lies in helping individuals make sense of these patterns, discover new ways of coping, and ultimately step into a more empowered version of themselves. We together can find meaning as you move through periods of change, uncertainty, or healing.

Ultimately, what I care most about is that you feel seen, heard, and supported in the process of discovering your authenticity and how you want to be in the world.

My therapeutic style is integrative, and my approach is relational and collaborative. If you work with me, I will strive for you to feel deeply understood, respected and accepted, while also challenged in a way that’s appropriate for you. Together we can gain awareness of what’s happening for you, to recognise if this may have unconscious or historic origins.  We will be working to help you discover and rediscover what is authentic to you and your lived experience, and that will involve tuning into body sensations as well as thoughts and feelings. By moving at a steady and deliberate pace we create a trusting and safe therapeutic experience, in which we can explore the roots of your challenges and find ways for you to move forward.

My approach is centred on the belief that we all hold the potential for healing. By combining insights from diverse therapeutic traditions, I aim to create a safe and supportive environment that encourages clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, perhaps uncover unconscious patterns and discover new ways of being.

I believe that therapy needs to adapt to suit the unique needs of each client and this informs my integrative approach. I am trauma informed and trained to work within contemporary psychodynamic, existential and humanistic approaches. I also work somatically and use mindfulness techniques. All of this is held within an anti-oppressive, decolonial, LGBTQIA+ affirming and intersectional framework.

Training, qualifications & experience

I completed my Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy and hold a Masters in Psychotherapy and Counselling from Regents University. I am a Registered member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists and I am a Practitioner Member of BAATN.

I have experience of providing long term open ended therapy in a low-cost mental health agency. I have also worked in charities supporting women in crisis, victims of domestic violence and refugees. I have worked with people from many different identities and backgrounds, facing a broad range of challenges.

I am committed to participating in additional training and lifelong learning, particularly in the areas of trauma, embodiment, peri/postnatal mental health and systemic oppression. I have completed additional training in parts work, racial trauma, bereavement skills, Compassion Focused Therapy and Intersectionality. I am regularly attending Continuing Professional Development to deepen my learning around the areas I am interested in.

I am in regular clinical supervision, which helps me to support clients and practise to high professional and ethical standards.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
