About me
Hi there! As an MBACP registered Person-Centered Counsellor and Psychotherapist with a specialisation in Human Development, I am eager to bring my robust foundation in person-centered therapy, extensive experience, and unwavering dedication to fostering positive growth and transformation in clients' lives.
What to expect:
Count on me to approach your world with genuine curiosity and empathy, eager to understand both you and your unique journey. Whether face-to-face, online or telephonic, my passion for helping you and genuine interest in supporting your self-discovery, growth and well-being.
ALL EARS!! Central to my practice is the cultivation of active listening skills and creating a safe and supportive environment where you feel empowered to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences without fear of judgment. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, loss, disability, identity and self-esteem concerns, or simply seeking personal growth and self-awareness, I provide compassionate support every step of the way.
Training, qualifications & experience
Educational Journey:
I hold an MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy and an MSc in Human Development and Childhood Studies. My academic background has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of human development, which I continuously build upon through ongoing education and training opportunities in positive psychiatry, trauma-informed therapy, couples and family therapy, mental health, and therapeutic practice within diverse settings.
Experiences so far:
I have extensive experience establishing and volunteering at counselling units, offering both in-person and remote counselling services. At Stepping Stones- Glasgow, I delivered in-person counselling and at Kingdom Housing Association- Fife, I established a counselling unit to provide telephonic counselling services to aid vulnerable clients navigating a broad spectrum of difficulties. In both organisations, I have worked with clients' presenting issues encompassing anxiety, depression, grief, abuse, childhood experiences, physical ailments, low mood, and low self-esteem. My support extended to addressing issues such as the loud inner critic, PTSD, feelings of isolation, suppressed emotions, behavioural challenges, disabilities, and experiences of marginalization. I also provided assistance to individuals coping with joblessness, loss, relationship issues, miscarriage, and various other challenges.
Ethnic Diversity and Interests:
As an Indian with a mosaic of cultures, English is my first language, but I'm equally fluent in Hindi and Urdu. I cherish reading, swimming, yoga, travelling, experiencing new cultures, and often seeking solace in nature. Growing up in diverse cultural settings, I've travelled, absorbed and hold deep regards for various customs, religions, traditions, and family dynamics. As an immigrant (of life), I intimately understand the demands and challenges of adapting to a changes.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
